So I had a lovely conversation with a woman who has lost over 100 pounds in almost a year. She stated she does strict keto Monday through Friday and then come Saturday morning till Sunday night eats only meats with no carbs added. She said she simply salts and butters it all.
She showed me her journal (she hand logs it all) on Facetime and it seems she eats the same few meals while on Keto and then eats a variety of meats on the weekends. Her logic for the few variations of Keto is simply that she doesn’t want to do the calculations for recipes and new foods all the time. I told her I also didn’t like spending more time figuring out what to eat and the macros than actually eating the food either so I see her point.
She did show her log from this past weekend and she ate an entire grilled chicken for lunch and then HB eggs and homemade jerky as a snack. That was followed by a 10 ounce rib eye for dinner and a can of tuna with mayo for a snack later on. She ate more jerky before bed.
Isn’t that a lot of of protein? Doesn’t protein turn to sugar??? How is this possibly working? It sounds interesting but I’m not convinced it can work for anyone! Thoughts?
