I’ve been doing keto for a little over a month now and am loving it. My mom is very curious about this WOE and wants to give it a try, but is afraid to go all in because of her history with anorexia (she’s afraid this WOE will turn into some sort of obsession and ultimately another disorder). She’s been in recovery for about 5 years now but still struggles with it from time to time. Does anyone have any experience they wouldn’t mind sharing, maybe some tips for her to successfully live the keto lifestyle without it becoming overwhelming or obsessive? I’ve never been in her position so I’m not sure what advice to give, but I know going keto would greatly benefit her health and would love for her to be successful.

Thank you for your response! Just from my observations, I agree that a lot of it is centered around control, and I think that’s what she is most worried about. I like your idea of not focusing on any actual numbers or goals, and have already told her she can just adjust depending on how certain things make her feel, that it’s not an exact science. She’s not in it to lose weight, just regain her health, and has already expressed interest in weight training, so that’s a good start! I will just keep encouraging and take things a little at a time.
