Keto after cardio bypass

(Kimberly DeJournett) #1

Has anyone had cardiac bypass and had reversal of plaque on Keto? I had a triple bypass in April 2011 and started Keto beginning of Feb 2018. Can plaque in arteries be reversed and if so, is it by autophagy?

Search the forums for CAC score or scan and you’ll find lots of discussion. This entry is from someone who did it.

The anecdotal evidence is that it is possible with keto and a little supplementation but there is little available science to prove it yet.

From what Ive understood is that you cannot reduce the size of the plaque lesion … but you can stabilize the plaque by hardening the outer “shell” calcium over it .

It is mostly anecdotal but people are seemingly reducing arterial blockages. The thoughts are that autophagy is recycling the oxidized lipids and the calcium is being reabsorbed (with the help of K2, etc.)

Stabilisation is a feature of a low-inflammation diet like keto but fasting and supplementation seem to be required to go further.
