Keep Calm and Keto On - Success thread

Greetings,

I would like to request from those who have reached their ideal weight by staying calm and staying on Keto to post here. Lots of us, myself included have reached stall points and I heard Richard on the Podcast mention that KCKO long enough can potentially overcome insulin resistance. Who has done just that, and had that success? I’m a very impatient guy so it’s hard for me to do that. I’ll never leave Keto, because I think this way of eating is fantastic and I have not gained weight back which is awesome. Yes, occasionally on a cheat day or heavy fat bomb day I may gain 1 to 2 pounds. But I lose it by the end of the week. I also know the benefits health wise are great as well. So that has me locked on Keto.

But I’ll keep looking for the extended fast or whatever to try to knock out these last 20 pounds faster. I know there is no magic pill to lose weight faster, but thought it could be encouraging to others to hear from those who did KCKO for the long haul even through their stall points and made their ideal weight.

According to my wife I’m already there, she calls me skinny, but I can grab fat on my waist and see it around my back, the spare tire I guess. The mirror is so brutally honest with us in the mornings. LoL.

I am 8 pounds from goal and was stalled for over a year, gaining and losing according to # of carbs I was eating. I had a really bad spell around Christmas time but finally got back in the groove. Anyway I had a check up with my physician this week and I was 3.5 pounds down from my visit 3 months ago. It was a real shock as I hate weighing and had no idea. I read The Real Meal Revolution 2.0 recently and found it helpful to look at the process in phases. I think the book might be helpful to people who are at or near maintenance as well. I have been more diligent in limiting carbs and carb treats. I have only done 16:8 type fasts and was encouraged to hear Megan say that not all of their clients do extended fasts. I would like to be able to do it some day for autophagy because Altzheimers runs in my family. However at this point for a variety of reasons the KCKO approach seems to finally have paid off.

It’s me again and happy to report 1.5 inches gone from my waist since I retired in late March. The waist is now 1/2 the height and I think that is some kind of threshold. After retirement I destressed a good bit, no more hour long commutes in traffic, intense work environment and long hours. I started working out with weight machines 2-3 times per week at low weights with very gradual increases. I was determined to not get injured. I did some interval training on the stationary bike along with the weights sort of as a warm up. I started making salads for lunch at about 11am each day and tried to eat dinner by 7pm. On any given day if hungry I would breakfast with something light. Not too rigid because I know how rebellious I can be. :rage: My husband and I walk around our town but not for exercise (running errands or leisure walking) and ride our bikes occasionally for 10-12 miles at a leisurely pace. My clothes are definitely looser and my outgrown clothes in the back of the closet have been either scrapped completely or given a second chance up front. I go back to my PCP in August for blood work but overall I am encouraged. This is a WOE and living that seems sustainable. I am hopeful!
