I’m having a hard time staying motivated-HELP. I have been Keto for 5 months now, lost 50lbs. & it was all mainly motivated by a vacation we had in the beginning of this month. & other things (wanting to feel better, not be overweight, be more comfortable & clearer skin) now, after vaca, i’m having a hard time staying ‘on track’. I also workout most days a week & I’m wondering if i should keep on keto (since obviously i had success) or if i can switch to just a clean whole diet and keep up my activity levels. Help!! What keeps you going on keto? or has anyone gone from keto to a normal clean diet? & maybe just use keto/low carb as a backup plan?

You did not lose 50 pounds by eating less and moving more. Nutritional ketosis normalizes many things including hormones and enzymes and overall metabolism. That’s really why you lost the weight. If you revert to pre-keto you will lose the metabolic benefits of keto one of which was your weight loss. That is precisely the reason why most if not all people on CICO diets eventually gain back all the weight they initially lost. If you are determined to abandon keto, then I suggest instead of just reverting to SAD, revert instead to ‘low’ or ‘lower carb’ (sub-100 grams per day). Not as good as keto, but maybe good enough and will probably prevent some of the weight gain you’d experience going all the way back to SAD.

I made the decision shortly after writing this post, to keep going on Keto. I just needed a goal since i surpassed my original one. Now-abs are my goal  & it’ll take time, but that’s okay! i have plenty of time  but keeping that weight off is a little more motivating too because i’m so scared of going ‘off keto’ and waking up one day realizing i gained it all back. SO-it’s just easier for me to keep on top of things when i eat keto
Another goal is carnivore. I really want to see how a long stint of carnivore works for me. I’ve heard good things, but the weekends are what kills me. I definitely went off plan this past weekend.

I think ‘body recomposition’ is an excellent goal. In fact, there are a number of folks on this forum who are pretty knowledgeable and experienced with it. The only person I can think of immediately off-hand is @April_Harkness who I’m sure probably is aware of others.

Also, you could rename this topic to something that would be more noticeable to the weight-lifters and body-builders. I’m sure they will respond helpfully.

As for carnivore, there a plenty of those here as well, but probably get in touch with a separate topic.

I am also carnivore.

@April_Harkness Do you typically eat before workouts? & do you track your protein intake at all?

(April Harkness) #8

I do fasted training. And I only count every so often to make sure I dont undereat protein.

@April_Harkness
I have been doing fasted training also, but was just curious
Would you mind sharing what a typical day for meals looks like for you? & do you do OMAD or 2MAD?

(April Harkness) #10

usually 5-6 days a week I OMAD, once a week I might do TWOMAD (usually if me and my bf go out for a social event.) I post some of my meals on IG and myfitness pal (ketokween43 on IG, apriltrainer on myfitnesspal)

Following you in IG! @April_Harkness
Do you ever have treats on carnivore? & do you have any tips (other than just not eat them) to curb cravings for treats? I’m really trying to break my sweet tooth habits. I want something sweet every day after dinner so i’m hoping to use carnivore as a strict no treats plan so i can hopefully break the habit! :crossed_fingers:t3: I almost do better when i’m strict and track my food because it keeps me accountable

I am a former food binger. I suffered from binge eating disorder. I do not cheat. I did have an apple yesterday for Rosh Hashanah after not having fruit since May 2018, if that gives you an indication of my commitment. (and I was not carnivore at the time, just keto). I don’t consider the apple cheating. IT was planned and for a specific purpose. I am heading to work right now. I can’t answer all your questions. Feel free to Pm me and I’ll answer when I can, and just look at my past responses and threads.

In 5 months of strict Keto regime, I achieved all my Goals.

  1. Losa of weight
  2. Reversing Diabetes
  3. Reversing Hypertension
I am now on my maintenence diet which I summarize below:
    a) I still keep trying to control Carbs, but have stopped maintaining a log of Protien and Fats.
    b) I kept my daily work out (At least 5 days)
    c) I kept my Meditation and Rexing rituals- and remain peaseful and happy.
    d) I keep checking up Ketone and Blood Glucose daily. ( DAily average of Glucose 85 and Ketone 1.0)
and if any times I am off (Higther average of Glucose or Lower Ketones) I ensure thatt my next few meals will be as colse to the standart 75:20:5 ratio)
So far as I am concerned it has been helping me, but every person may not have the same body metabolism as I have, so I refrain from Preachiing but restricting this message to Sharing
