Kaiser Permanente Talks About Keto

#1

I just got an email from Kaiser with a link to Keto diet info. It was not all great but it was not negative either. The “Bottom Line” included the statement When it comes to any diet or major lifestyle change, it’s best to talk to your doctor first. They may recommend something like the keto diet — or they may not. It all depends on you, your body type, and your medical history.

It’s a pretty “soft” article but maybe they just want us who are doing keto to talk to our doctors. I told my doctor and she did not discourage me at all. The nurse also told me that statin use is entirely voluntary which took the pressure off me in my decision to not take them.

It’s not great, but at least it’s not bad.

Sounds to me like a big company hedging their bets ahead of time just in case this “fad” turns out to be a long term profit generator. Never underestimate the avarice of an entity with shareholders and never for a second mistake a business for a friend.

They did say it depends on your body-type and medical history. I don’t see them profiting from keto but your last sentence are words of wisdom for life in general. Take everything corporations (and politicians) tell you with a grain of salt (view with skepticism)

Wait.

Maybe they are reading my cookies and know I’m interested in Keto and they know I’m going to start Medicare next year and will be shopping around for a provider . . .

Make 'em work for it.

I just got that email today and I agree, it’s fairly positive. I’m proud of Kaiser!

Additionally, a friend of mine was recently hospitalized (not for dietary reasons) at Kaiser and when she discussed her IF lifestyle with multiple doctors and nurses, they were all supportive of fasting!
