Just want to thank everybody here

I’ve been low-carb for a year, just doing what I remembered about Atkins. I lost 54lbs in 6 months. Then I started dating and it all went to hell. Going out to eat, etc. I gained back 18lbs. But you know what? I spent so much time on this site, and read SOOO much good information and support, so I wasn’t even stressed about it. Disappointed in having to redo those 18lbs, but confident I could.

These last two months I have bounced around 190. A year ago it would have been very frustrating, but now I know my body was/is healing on the inside. I posted a thread a while back complaining that I wasn’t losing dress sizes fast enough. A lot of people pointed out the healing and recompositioning process. Since then, despite the scale barely moving for two months, I have gone from an 18 to almost a 14 (I can button them but I can’t breathe, lol).

Long story short, you guys have helped me so much! You’ve helped me stay sane and focused. I’ve learned so much, and the support is amazing. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

You are doing great!

I too started out doing Atkins because that is what I knew about. I did that for almost 2 months until a friend told me to look into keto. I was like “Huh?” Never heard of it.

I started out adding MCT oil to my coffee and was horrified as I was brain washed into the low fat dogma. Then I tried butter. OMG. I was sorry at first because it was so delicious I was afraid I would start to gain weight. Didn’t happen.

I always got so burned out on Atkins but having the extra fat in my diet and all the wonderful keto recipes I discovered I could eat this way for life.

Yeah, the extra fat makes all the difference. And I wasn’t even vegetarian back in the 90’s when I first tried Atkins, yet keto is still easier than Atkins ever was. Atkins was effective until I, too, got burned out on it. This is definitely a lifestyle change for me, whereas I looked at Atkins as just another diet.
