Just a quick question

That depends on a lot of factors. Like how long you’ve been eating ketogenic. How many cookies or more specifically how many carbs. And is this a one off or are you planning a carb filled holiday KETO nightmare? Plus everyone has their own personal carb limit where you leave ketosis to burn glucose. I’m almost a year and a half and have a lot more flexibility than someone who isn’t yet fat adapted. So you’re rolling the dice, I can’t tell you. But I’ll guess your just starting so it will probably make you gain a few if that’s what usually happens and you plan on doing what you do every year at this time. How serious are you about KETO? Are you doing it for health or just a way to drop a few quick and then return to previous eating habits? The longer you stay clean with the eating the better your results to reach whatever goal it is that drives you. For me it’s health oriented so junk food isn’t very seductive to me. The longer I go the less I seem to enjoy the sugar. My taste buds are much more sensitive to it where it’s usually gross in the amounts people commonly eat, and that I used to also.

My advice as an experienced KETO eater is if you’re going to indulge limit frequency and quantities if you don’t want to go backwards. I mean have a cookie or two, don’t pig out on all the fudge and candy. Keep it to one day not a season and try to make most choices KETO while enjoying a taste of the holiday if you must. Fast the day after if you’re able and that’s something you do. Get right back to KETO, don’t mess around putting it off. Enjoy the holiday, Merry Christmas. :christmas_tree: :cowboy_hat_face:

The real question is "“Will you gain fat?” In order for that to happen you have to fill up your Liver Glycogen, which takes quite a few EXCESS carbs. One day of gluttony probably won’t do it, but several days in a row might.

What you will do is gain scale.weight, from the weight of food consumed and any glycogen being stored.

Not being in Ketosis doesn’t equal weight gain, same rules keto or not, it’s all in what you eat. If you’re off the wagon for a while just try to keep the fat on the low side and don’t worry about it. If you’re good with fasting a clean out day after the fact speeds up “recovery”.

I agree with David limit the frequency and amounts. Normally for me one 2-3 days of eating carb meals will take about 4 days to recover. Mileage may vary thanksgiving took more like a 7-10 of strict eating to get my ketones up, and lose all the water weight.
And you need to be careful with going completely off the rails. Some people start don’t stop for months. High carb eating encourages more.

Enjoy the holidays though,
Merry Christmas
