It's happening! :) :)

Thanks for this motivating post. I’m just 2 weeks in and the fatigue and lethargy are so tough. Plus as someone who is used to working out hard (bootcamps and strength classes) I am having a hard time NOT working out while I’m adjusting. Even speed walking on the treadmill leaves me wrecked the next day. So it helps to hear success stories and that this won’t last forever and that it is worth it.

Hi Krista. At this point I feel like I am going two steps forward and then one step back. But I think that I found out a pattern. It seems like I have to be very active and then everything is ok. I have measured my ketones level when I feel sick and they are always like 1.5 and up to 2.5. It seems that I am hit by some nausea if I don’t use them properly. For example, I was sick again yeasterday early afternoon but I went to the gym in the evening and afterwards everything was great. And in the gym was awesome. Today I walked early in the morning 5 miles with my dog (only BPC in the morning) and I was busy for the whole day, had lunch around 3 pm and went to the city in the museum with my daughter. We walked another 5 miles through the city and I was feeling great. I had some kind of dinner around 9 pm. Usually I got sick at work if I have to sit for few hours and eat some fatty lunch. It is like my ketone levels arise and then I feel sick if I don’t use them.

Just an update on my own journey. I just completed my 5k race. I didn’t think I was going to be able to, as I still had t cleared 2.5 miles in any of my practice runs due to low stamina, and worst of all, I was up until 4am with the worst heartburn/gallbadder pain I’ve ever experienced and still had some pain when I had to get up at 6am to get ready. But I should never underestimate the competitive nature in me. I did have to walk a very small section up a hill. It was that or throw up, but I finished it in 31:34:02.

On a glass half empty POV, this was my worst 5k finish time ever. Two years ago I was 4th in this very same race.

On a glass half full view, I finished, and that’s what matters. I can now move on to improving my time and adding distance. I’m bound and determined to do a half marathon by the end of summer. I’d really like to do my first full, but I’ll see how training goes.

Today was great day. It really is true that for me the rule is to use all the ketones I can get. I was walking with my dog for 3,5 miles in the morning, then went to gym and all of my old strenght is back! After the weightlifting, I was running like mad woman on the treadmill! No tiredness at all. Before keto I was always short of breath after some time. This is awesome. And no napping or sleepyness after the meal. I was super productive and did a lot of things today. Keto rules! :grinning: Can’t wait to see what the next months will bring.

So looking forward to the day I feel like that.

Just want to add that just be patient. It will click. Have faith.

You will. I still have some days when fatigue kicks in. Adaptation is a process.

My dear thanks for sharing your experience. I’m now 8 months into keto and when I started, I experienced almost all that you have shared.

Oh that’s wonderful. Congratulations, especially for persevering through the carb flu stage. It’s great to read a testimony like yours especially for those that are going through the difficult times. It’s good to read that there is light at the end of the tunnel - to make it all worthwhile! Thank you! <3
