Italy. Problem

#1

Well I just fell off the wagon here. Great Italian food is so good and even though I tried to just eat steaks, cheese, etc I have well and truly fallen off the wagon.

When I get back home I will see how long it takes to recover. Ciao from ROme, Florence and Milan.

It happens to the best of us. Enjoy your time there and get back on the horse when you get home

I’m in Italy for 3 weeks in April and have been wondering whether I step off the wagon completely for that time, or try staying on. It’s my first time visiting Europe and I want to experience everything I can. I dont miss pasta at all but I’m pretty sure the pizza will catch me.

Do let us know!

Don’t forget the mediterranean cuisine. There is a lot of fresh fish and seafood, and great olive oil for salads.

I found Pizza in Italy to be disappointing to say the least. IMO pizza in America is much better. I can say the same thing about pasta sauces. However, the seafood, coffees, cheeses, pastries, and desserts were great.

If you do eat carbs while you’re there, just try to avoid them later in the Day and you’ll be fine.

I’m in Australia and I’m not overly thrilled with pizza here, with the odd exception. Haven’t been to US to sample the pizza there. So maybe I won’t be too challenged by the pizza in italy (phew!), but I’m pretty sure the pastries and desserts will be my biggest challenge (and delight!).

Enjoy it! You’d be insane if you didn’t eat that food! Never take a way of eating and turn it into a diet! You’ll bounce back faster than you think.

You might have been in Rome
the pizza in Milan and FLorence is excellent

Yes, it was.Rome and Naples. I think the best meal I ate was.in Rome near the Vatican. It was in a small Café that many of the Swiss Guards ate at.

Just get started back when you get back. My biggest fault with a diet is either being all in or all out. It took many days of bad eating to get most of us to the spot we are in. A day or two of carbs is not what did it. It’s a lifestyle change.

Maybe it s an acquired taste, but I live in Europe and I prefer italian pizzas because I have always eaten them. I dont like the sauce on American pizzas.

I don’t care for the ROme style pizza. The carbs I love the most there are cacio y pepe
