Is this what happens when you cheat?

This weekend, we ate non-Keto. Honestly, here and there I have “cheated” but just little things and always an extreme moderation. Repentance came the next day with a very strict keto regimen.

Now I am suffering what I believe is the expulsion of all the terrible stuff I ate - my question is has this happened to anyone else? I have been on the straight and narrow for about 5 1/2 months. This is the first time I have done a total nosedive.

I’m just trying to figure out if I have a stomach bug or am I paying for very bad choices?

When your gut biota is used to a certain type of food, and then it suddenly changes, it is very possible starting a bit of microbe warfare in your intestines. Just stay calm. Get back on the horse, let the food transit and return to the keto way of eating.

But, more importantly, do this:

Reflect on why you nose dived and fell off the horse to begin with. What was the trigger that made you do it? What is a better decision to make, for next time that you face the same event or similar situation. This will arm you in the future to make better choices.

Haha! Oh, we knowingly chose to fall off the wagon. And believe me, what has occurred tonight will definitely deter us from doing it again.

I had something similar (rapid transit) when I had a single sugary dessert after 4 months of keto. It doesn’t seem to happen when I flirt round the edges with one bite of bread or a handful of OH’s crisps. Still best avoided, though.

I spent about 2+ years trying to cycle carbs for various reasons while otherwise being LCHF (not keto) and FINALLY realized that the carbs literally made me sick and became determined to eliminate them and concentrate on being ketogenic.

In other words, the pain and suffering were essential experiences on my path to the keto WOE and although I didn’t enjoy those feelings, remembering them helps keep me more focused now.
