Is there a brand of Himalayan Salt with guaranteed mineral content?

#1

Hello.

Can anyone recommend a brand of Himalayan Salt where the other minerals are guaranteed to be in abundance?

Wiki says the minerals other than sodium can be in varying proportions.

Thank you.

Sorry to burst the bubble (and I know lots of people here love their pink salt) - but the mineral content is trace enough that there’s really no point in bothering with it. (if postage was free, I’d mail you the one I bought)

If you need to supplement your diet, you should be looking at other, more substantial alternatives.

(also not a fan of the lite-salt - think the potassium content is too high and a lot of people are gambling at getting kidney stones by doing so, but that’s my own belief)

Me, I think everyone should get their nutrients from their diet (except when fasting). When fasting, I normally have a couple electrolyte drinks a day as well as some added salt to ensure my cells retain their micronutrients.

Heh…full disclosure, I also take a daily multivitamin, vitamin E, Omega-3 (fish oil) and glucosamine sulfate (to help heal some knee damage).

Potassium is very interesting topic. Many keto gurus says we need to supplement potassium and get like 4-5g per day. They say it is the most vital electrolyte to keep the The Sodium-Potassium pump working. But it also come with a risk to get to much. I am trying to eat alot of avocado and spinach.

Where it’s dangerous is when you’re getting it from non-natural supplements. Yes, we definitely should be trying to get as much Potassium in our diet as we can. (our recommendation is 4700mg per day) - that’s a goal, but it’s nearly impossible to hit. But, if you’re getting enough sodium, you really don’t need very much at all, as your cells will retain most of their micro-nutrients.

If you’re getting your potassium from food sources, the absorption rate is much more gradual, as your body has evolved to take in.

All the Himalayan pink salt comes from one salt mine in Pakistan. Just a marketing thing
