Is KETO safe to pursue if you have alcohol cirrhosis?

Almost everything I’ve read only pertains to NASH. Thanks.

I personally don’t know how it would hurt. It may even help reverse some of the damage.

My guess is that while keto might help the liver heal, a damaged liver is an added risk factor for something going wrong. I’d try to keep a close eye on it and watch for any signs/symptoms of trouble. Medical testing, say a comprehensive metabolic panel when starting the diet and perhaps again at 3 months and 6 months could help track whether things get better or not. Unfortunately insurance often has limits and may only pay for 1 round of testing per year, although inexpensive options for direct to consumer testing are increasing.

Thank you. I really appreciate the feedback. Just wish there was something specific and clear confirming KETO woe was healthy and advisable for people with alcoholic liver cirrhosis.

Thank you, now if only I had completed nursing school! Lol. Read it twice. Uhhh, it’s suggesting a hf, lc diet is beneficial for the liver- (hep C takes place in the liver)?

Do you have a liver specialist that you see? And does he believe in diet affecting your health? Regardless of what anyone says I would try Keto. There are So many benefits. if your enzymes are up they will probably run panels more often and it be covered under your insurance. please look into it because you need a healthy liver, good luck

Thank you. My hepatologist is very open minded and very happy with my current diagnosis. However, when I tried to tell him about the supplements I was taking in certain foods I was avoiding he shook his head and said “no no no-keep that to yourself… whatever you’re doing–just keep doing it!” I would have thought he’d like to know what I was doing so that he may tell and help others. Not the case with modern medi$ine.
