Is Keto possible with my allergies?

(Greimatter ) #1

Does anyone have any suggestions for people with lots of allergies to do keto? I have problems with nuts, avocado, dairy, egg yolk, and most seeds. I don’t really have a problem with chia seeds, and I already have lo-salt to make up for the potassium, but I feel like eating just chia seeds and pea protein every day isn’t really, yknow, sustainable.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #2

Stick with meat, leafy greens, and cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli and cauliflower. Bone marrow contains potassium, so if you make your own bone broth, be sure to simmer the bones to the point where the marrow becomes brittle and all the goodness has been leached out.

Same deal, just work around them. But after I’d say 2-3mo keto try to reintroduce whatever you can slowly. I’m lactose intolerant and can do a lot of dairy without issue when I’m eating keto. When I up my carbs like I’m doing right now, all the problems come back! No clue why that is and people say that it can’t happen, but I’ve seen it with others and diary as well. Keto fixes a lot of things it’s not supposed to be capable of fixing.

My allergies have really improved over the years of being keto. I do not eat chia seeds or pea protein. Are you trying to be keto and vegetarian?

If not, then meat, fish, eggs, cheese, double cream (if you are OK with dairy) and a small amount of leafy green veg should see you alright. I find a very low veg diet suits me well and run in carnivorish these days.

Seems like you would be a candidate for a carnivore or carnivore-adjacent diet. Very few people are allergic to ruminant meat like beef, bison, etc.
