Is keto just another fad diet?

I just happen to stumble upon the keto diet by chance not because I need lose weight in fact I am looking to gain weight but was inquiring about seborrhea dermatitis on my face and it mentioned that high processed sugars may cause it, so then I gave up sugar for a week and I can see the difference already so I just decided to take up the keto diet, I was very surprised one could have bacon cheese etc my friend was shocked I had bought bacon and I have never eaten bacon in 50 years or had eaten cheese, its’s hard diet to follow because I love snacks and grains etc, the meals are great but i find the diet very restrictive wlith bake goods etc and any keto baking is just awful

Welcome to the forum Paul.

Initially, it does feel restrictive and difficult. I was so used to snacks and regular meals at regular times to avoid feeling hungry and it all has to do with the type of fuel you are putting in your engine. Use
shitty
fuel (carbs) and you get crappy mileage and the engine does not run as smooth. Use high performance fuel (fat) and you can go much further without needing to refuel and everything runs smoother.

The problem with processed carbs and sugar is that they cause abrupt spikes in the rise and fall of blood sugar. This can make us cranky, make us hungry and cause cravings. Once you can switch to burning fat the cravings diminish or disappear, the energy becomes higher and more consistent, inflammation decreases and this way of eating will then seem less restrictive. It’s only seems restrictive until you can hurdle your hunger and cravings.

And yes keto baked goods are pretty bad, but that just means I can focus more on steak and bacon. That’s not a bad trade to me.

focusing on bacon and steaks, I’ll go with that, sounds like a real good trade off thank for the input

It’ll take some time to get over the carb cravings but buckle down and they will diminish over time. The more strict you are in the beginning you are the faster this will pass and the path just gets easier from there. Don’t keep them in the house at all.
