Is anything actually 0 carbs?

Hey, welcome to Keto!

I’m 8 months in and, like you, how to cheat was among my first interests, LOL! I think that’s pretty normal for addicts.

I found that baking with alternative sugars helped get me over the hump. Erythritol is my current personal fave, but I’ve tried xylitol and stevia blends. The best part is that, after a while on keto, your desire to cheat mostly (really, truly) disappears. I bake very rarely now, I don’t miss bread (except for French-style croissants; accept no imposters!), and cake-pie-cookie desire is null.

My advice:

  • See this as a lifestyle change not a diet
  • Don’t plan to cheat, plan to win
  • If you fall, hum along with me: pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again

Good luck!

@Wem: THIS! is the reason I will stay keto until I die. Having ultimate control over things you couldn’t control before makes all of it worthwhile.

Thank you for this very even keeled response! I must be one of the lucky ones, I’ve had pretty much no cravings, even though I have been having diet soda. I have been super conservative with carbs, though, to the point where I probably need to up my amount just to get in some veggies

Thanks  Honestly, the only cheats I’m really craving are fruits and higher carb veggies like carrots, but I feel like I can probably experiment with incorporating those in moderation.
