Just starting out. I noticed my stomach was more grumbling or something. Not really hungry but makes me want to eat to get rid of the fee. Any suggestions?
I heard IF is like working out in that you work up to it.
Intermittent fasting and stomach issues
It’s just complaining of boredom, don’t worry as it’ll pass. Drinking water sometimes helps.
I definitely found IF easier as I went along. And my body got more used to it too. If I feel hunger, or just empty in my stomach, salt usually helps.
Grumbling is not really an indicator of being hungry but it happens as our digestive systems are dealing with food and we learn to associate it over time as that. There was another thread here on that posted by @VLC.MD
Definitely learn to ignore it. Mineral Water (like Perrier) calms it for some people.
I drink some hot green or chamomile tea with a little salt in it, and it seems to make my tummy happy enough to shut up.
Thank you all!
It’s weird but I Usually do water on a fast but this morning I drink peach tea and it helped a lot
made it more bearable or you don’t even notice it.
Actually I did take a little salt this morning too so both probably helped
If you have raw ginger at your house, it is great for any tummy issues involved in fasting of any length.
Pink salt is very helpful too.
I felt sooo much better today. First I didn’t chew and sugarless gum. Also I drank some peach tea. I did have ginger in a smoothie. But I think most of all a person just gets used to it.
I wanted to try just dinner every day but I take supplements and If I take them too close to bed it keeps me awake. I was thinking maybe at lunch time I can just eat some fats so I can take supplements.
When I’m fasting, I still take Omega 3. It’s so important for the body, and most people who don’t eat a lot of seafood are deficient in it. I take five capsules preferably after meals, but on fasting days I take them along with my other supplements to aid in absorption.
Another great option are nuts. A walnut for instance will get the juices going and make taking a supplement easier, but is also not really enough to break a fast in my own experience. A couple grams of nuts on a fasting day allows me enjoy the flavour of foods and it’s much fewer calories than a cup of bulletproof coffee.
And also it tastes good…lol
I would love to get to the point where I can fast for a day or two or three… but right now getting to one meal a day.
I do think it’s like a muscle…you build up to it.
