Insulin response test question

#1

After hearing the “when bodies revolt” episode of the podcast I went to the lab test site Brandon mentioned and found some affordable insulin response tests. I was thinking that there might be a way to use them to test insulin response to a keto meal, if one where to just eat a keto meal instead of drinking the glucose solution before the second (and latter) blood draws.

Does anyone know if this is possible? I think I remember Jimmy Moore once mentioning he did something like this but I can’t remember where or when.

I also don’t know if the lab would let you do this, or if they would force you to drink the glucose solution. But I was thinking if possible this would be way more useful than just a fasting insulin test.

This is the test I am talking about : insulin response test

Jimmy Moore did his in a lab, similar to what I think that test does. He ate (mainly) protein. I had a similar test with glucose, three tests (one before, one at one hour, one at two hours). Unfortunately, the idiots only took the first and the last tests.

The problem would be that the meal you choose would influence the results. Different proteins affect insulin differently. The same could be said for fats, and the combination of everything will be different than if you tested each one separately.

And even if you did know your insulin response to a keto meal, what would you do with that information?

It would be better, in my opinion, to have the glucose/insulin test done with glucose and then take it again months later to see if your insulin and glucose responses are different.
