Insight TV show on Beating Diabetes

(Richard Morris) #1

This why I started trying to explain ketogenic diets to others on FaceBook, once I had reversed my own diabetes … and then Carl picked up on it, and we started the podcast and all the rest is history.

This poor guy has lost 3 toes and he’s got no motivation to do anything about diet because he thinks that means exercise. His story and Maxine’s (The aboriginal woman who cured her diabetes) both rock my world in different ways. And the appearance by the guy from Diabetes Australia telling us that obesity causes diabetes and we just need to move more and eat less (preferably Mediterranean) stokes my anger that keeps me doing this.

9 minutes of concerning discussion.

Michael, the poor bugger with the history of toe amputation, obviously struggling with diabetic control by the sound of his meds.

Is a sitting duck for retinopathy.

Mentioned he’s needing stronger contact lenses and specs.

Sadly, these only correct refractive error, not leaking retinas.

800 calorie diet plan??? That’s the solution?

Need to watch the full version of this.

The Insight preview running all day yesterday hinted that the programme might be much more interesting and revolutionary than it was. Unfortunately I had to turn it off in exasperation. Such a wasted opportunity for Australia’s health.

This is either industry corruption or willful ignorance. I don’t know how else to explain this kind of lunacy.

And now they are going to put the guy on an 800 cal per day diet … Yeah…like that’s going to work. What rubbish.
