Anyone ever experience joint or muscle pain or some sort of inflammation around muscle when consuming accidental hidden carbs or sugars after being keto for a while (5 months). I went out tonight and ordered a zucchini noodle salad. It had cashews, tomatoes, shallots, green peppers and the sauce on the side of some sort of a pesto. I moved the cashews to the side ate 3 halves of cherry tomatoes and some of the zucchini. 10 minutes after I started feeling pinching pains around my knees, my elbows, my back… not super painful but bothersome enough. My head feels a bit pressured if that makes sense. I’ve felt like this once before in the beginning when I was learning this WOE but I wonder what triggered today. Not sure if I should eat fat for the rest of the day or just drink water and fast for a day or so. And I did start feeling like I could use a nap and I haven’t felt like that in a while
Inflammation pain?
To me that sounds like the effect of a gluten response. Do you have celiac?
I don’t. I really didn’t have any medically alternative reason when I started keto except to lose weight and retire bad eating habits, and so on. I don’t see a doctor until next month, maybe then I can request certain test to be done just in case
Heck yeah. I hit it with a shotgun. Extra water with apple cider vinegar, 2-3 oz per quart, around 2g Vitamin C. I also do Green tea, 2 pouches in a quart of water.
It could be a reaction to disodium inosinate. I have had similar reactions to that… it is found in different things but it can be used in Asian dishes if Magi seasoning is used. Magi is kind of like a soy sauce. Magi says it doesn’t have MSG (so restaurants can claim they don’t use MSG).
Wow, never knew that. I need to be more careful now when I eat out. It wasn’t a pleasant reaction, didn’t ruined my night but I wasn’t feeling as energetic as I had just a few minutes before I ate. The pinching pain or whatever it was, very spontaneous too but it hit right in the most common inflammatory joints. I wasn’t bloated or anything after that but I’m not feeling my keto way this weekend so I’m trying to recuperate. Any advice on anything else I can do to get back into it again? I don’t read blood numbers or stix I just go by how I feel and it’s been working out for me so far and I kind want to keep it like that until I get into my “goal” weight and then learn how to maintain
