Oh. I have not heard of that before…
Increasingly Difficult to Enter Ketosis
@SomeGuy nailed it, at 20g, you are 100% in ketosis. If you think your body is running on 20g of carbs , your nuts. You’d burn up more than that on a 15min walk.
Don’t waste your time (and money) testing ketones, it’s literally pointless, and leads to this happening.
Are you tracking what you eat? Makes zero difference whether you eat keto or not, if you’re eating more than your metabolic rate will burn, you hold or gain. No shortage of people gain weight on keto. Keto bodybuilders go through bulking cycles while eating keto, if keto was “magic” as some people like to think, or if it magically defied the laws of how our bodies worked, that literally wouldn’t be possible. Then there’s undereating or chronic fasting, which just like everybody else can slow out metabolic rate and stall us into a brick wall.
That is par for the course. If you have already lost an amount of fat in the range of 20-25% of your starting body weight, you are doing really well. I know plenty of guys who have lost that amount of fat, but you wouldn’t necessarily know, to look at any of us.
Give your body time to rest at the new weight, and it may eventually decide to shed some more excess fat.
Great point… giving the body time to rest and acclimate. I figure being too aggressive – continually pressing for rapid loss – will create a stress condition that triggers the body to resist (survival mode).
