In need of ‘Keto Buddies’ For encouragement:)

(Niqi ) #1

Hi all
I started keto … again after successfully using it to lose over a stone but then self isolation hit me as work told me to take the necessary precautions along with other staff … and yes I fell off the wagon :sleepy:
I was doing so well I ended up just sitting in one spot with my laptop for hours on end working from home and then started eating rubbish to counteract the discomfort and stress of working from home
Anyway I have come to my senses and cut my carbs right down
Last night the naughty partner got some Chinese cuisine in from local take away I only had the chicken omelette but I feel bad :pensive: I need keen keto buddies to share their
day here with me so I’m not feeling alone on this journey!

Yea most of us have stress times right now all over the world!

You came to your senses so that is good LOL

Your naughty partner got Chinese and you got jealous didn’t you? You wanted the old carby junky type food from the old days, not just a chicken omelet right? YES I KNOW THIS FEELING  :sunny:

Come here and yell, vent it out. Just start a new thread and say I WANNA YELL a bit and type out what is nagging at you. It is best to release that emotional attachment to old fav foods and many will come on and support you and tell you it will be fine

You know when I started my plan around 4 years ago now…when I got into that ‘I am irked over other’s eating XYZ around me’ and yea I got irked and could carb binge cave in a flash, I decided each time I would cook the best of the best meal for myself and screw them HAHA I would get crab legs and steam up with tons of butter for dipping and I would pair that up with a giant steak and while they ate the junky old fav foods I wanted, I knew I was eating a massive meal JUST FOR me and it would be funny cause while they were eating their stuff, they saw me cooking MY FOOD and my family is like…hey we eat this and you are doing CRAB and STEAK…come on and I would say, hey you wanted that, I wanted this :), tough noogies on you!

When you do get out and shop make sure you got some of those decadent, pricey on plan meal foods you love to eat…keep them around you for when you feel left out, or cheated, or just need help getting thru some meals. Any time you want your best of your best eating foods on your plan you have them, then you think, WOW I eat like this! and I am on plan and doing so well, what is not to love on this plan.

well that is a personal way I made it work for me when I got emotional with what the family ate around me while I changed my eating lifestyle.
It helped me alot, might help you? Just do whatever it takes for you to be happy on your eating plan, the best of the best foods you love on plan worked to help me!

hang in there, it gets better as we get off the carb addiction as you know, time on plan and eating well while dumping carbs is a great way to help combat some of the hard changes we face.

I agree with Fangs. Make sure you have some really “good” keto food available for when special food is being eaten by others in your household. I have two sources of totally carnivore (so carb free) foods. One is the freezer where I always make sure there are a couple of steaks with my name on them and the other is the pantry where I keep the box of pork scratchings from Awfully Posh - the seasalt ones have nothing but pork rind and salt in them.

and I see these as special and it keeps me from straying.

Oh and by the way welcome to this forum.

No need to feel lonely. It can be hard seeing what your partner eats while you choose to be faithful to your keto journey.

All those temptations just inches away. You might even be tempted to sneak a bite, but you don’t. You’ve decided to make positive changes and your determined to stick to it.

At first, it will be hard. Over time, it will become as natural as breathing. The temptations won’t be temptations at all. Sure, you’ll remember how these lovey these higher carb foods taste. You’ll remember how satisfying they were. Still, it won’t even enter your thoughts to eat them. You’ll be feeling so much more energized not being weighed down by their effects. Your feelings of being lonely will be replaced with feelings of empowerment. The sheer knowledge that you are in control of what you choose to eat, rather than certain foods calling to you begging to be eaten. Well, that’s a natural high that just can’t be beat.

Stay strong. Be happy and healthy. That’s the most important thing.

‘Fangs so much’ for your post! I did just that… shopped for good food so I don’t need to eat rubbish! We celebrated my sons 8th birthday today and we had lovely time … I made 4 types of chicken and we were all happy!
