There are courses by:
The Noakes Foundation
cost - USD 650 or USD 450 (early bird) for medically trained folks, but also will take others who, it seems, are screened for suitability
Dr Berg.com

I’m wondering about the Noakes course - it seems thorough.

To be more knowledgeable
I keep coming across people who could do with this information. Yesterday my daughter *** gave birth, at home, to a very nice little boy. After the birth the midwives ate Bolognese Sauce, pasta and parmesan; I ate the sauce with parmesan. “Why?” they asked.
One midwife cycles and she didn’t know about endurance sports and eating keto. One midwife has a diabetic mother and all the current advice isn’t helping managing, let alone curing, diabetes. And the third midwife was obese and was very interested in keto for weight loss.
So I gave them some websites: 2 keto dudes, Ketogenic Forums, Diet Doctor, and to Google the UK GP Dr Unwin, all scribbled on a kitchen towel. -
Volunteering in the NHS
I have just started a volunteer role which helps scrutinise general medical services. My first service was podiatry. This podiatry department has strong links with the diabetic service and I’m to meet the specialist podiatrist for diabetes in a few weeks. I’d like to be able to discuss low carb, high fat with intelligence and authority.
And given that metabolic disease is a primary cause of western disease and so will be an ongoing influence I think I could be useful in this volunteer roll if I really understand what I’m talking about. I will be meeting with consultants, service providers, and people commissioning services: I could talk to a lot of people.
What do you think folks? Are the courses any good? Would a Noakes ‘certification’ carry weight?
I volunteered before I came across keto - it seems a marriage made in heaven!
*** I have asked the forum about gestational diabetes.
There’s some really interesting science about the validity of the GTT and the climate/temperature when the test is performed. I’ll put it on that thread.
