"I'm Sweet Enough" Club

(She had one feck to give and that feck is gone.) #1

I want to go “sweetener free” until my B’Day next month 3/20 and then keep them just for special occasions/holidays. I feel like my usage was creeping up and up and up!

Anyone like to join in to share experiences, tactics, benefits, etc?

I’m in a real self experiment phase! Easing toward a cleaner Keto eating style to see how I feel overall - including psychologically. I don’t ever want to feel deprived because that’s a boner killer. I want to see if I can stop wanting things that are getting in my way.

The most startling experience so far for me has been the ability to give up first sugar and then sweetener in my coffee. Most amazing because I thought it was entirely an inflexible position.

After a few weeks of keto and using stevia in my coffee, my tastebuds went Eeeeeeeeew. I then had to make a choice between dropping keto or dropping the sweetener. I dropped the latter. Good thing. So, surprisingly the tastebuds made it work organically.

Jump off that sweetener cliff edge. Stop cold turkey.

I did this and within 2 weeks all cravings had gone and I could taste the natural sweetness of food.

Now I even find cream / milk very sweet.

I have reduced not eliminated, but I find sweetness in things I thought were not sweet now.

I need to do that too. Ironically, when I went Keto, I cut all sweets out and did fine. It wasn’t until I discovered the 2ketodudes podcast and started hearing all the recipes that I started experimenting with them.

I haven’t had issues with swerve, but I still seem to always over eat when I use them. If I make a recipe with 6 servings, I’ll end up eating all 6.

I’ll hang on to the supply for when I’m trying to make keto versions of SAD treats when guests come over, but other than that, I’m out.

Totally agree. I made whipped cream for desert last night. No sweetener, no vanilla, just 40% fat HWC whipped up with my stick blender. It was plenty sweet on its own.

I’ve never enjoyed things that are artificially sweetened. So, when I quit sugar, I quit all things sweetened. I too have noticed that cream is sweet on its own.

I think it’s a little late for me to join the club now… :joy: :joy: :joy:

We drove to my closest Walden Farms retailer last weekend (60miles/100km away) and stocked up the cupboard with these goodies!!!

I also have, for the most part, stopped consuming sweeteners of all kinds (real or otherwise).
That isn’t to say I don’t have something occasionally (both real and otherwise), but it’s the exception rather than the rule.
I’d prefer not to have it.

I’ve heard of a lot of people liking this brand. What sweetener is in those products? No disrespect to those of you who quit, I think that’s great! Just curious.

Navigated yesterday ok. Went to Japanese restau with the girls and had decided I was just going to eat “all of the things”. Ended up getting chicken, veg and green tea. Then at home having collagen tea with vanilla and my new love - Montezumas 100% Absolute Black chocolate. I knew I didn’t mean it really :joy:

:unamused:. I like sweets. I’m not eating sweetened things. I am annoyed.

I love the Brick Top quote. It’s one of my favorite lines from that movie. “Nah thanks, Turkish, I’m sweet enough” :sunglasses:

So I decided to have sweeteners yesterday because I was feeling overwhelmed :astonished:. Oh - and also carbage and tequila and real sugar but then…

I didn’t have any of that :tada:.

I did eat a lot of fat though (2oz cheese, 1oz hazelnuts, 8 olives) and ACV with seltzer. Had Keto dinner and some more cheese. Thrilled to have avoided that disaster!

I’m going to join you on the sweetener abstinence month. It’s Lent anyway and here in Germany, we use it as an opportunity to fast/abstain from unhealthy habits or habits which have a disproportionate meaning in our lives. For me, sweeteners are a trigger food and tend to increase my appetite. In addition, with time that one sweetened beverage at dinner spirals to adding sweetener to tea and looking up keto-desserts. That’s definitely the wrong path for me.

Olivia, I’lljoin you. Have been using monk fruit, but might drop that as well.

Wow! I’m realizing what a habit Keto treats had become :astonished:. I still find myself looking for them after meals. I don’t want to go for 100% choc in the eve. Time for some brain training :brain: :muscle:t2:

Food is really starting to taste good now! The sweeteners were affecting my ability to appreciate real food.
