I’m getting ready to make the keto brownies and I just woke up. I may even think about making some keto cupcakes with the frosting

I would sweeten with monkfruit?

Looks yummy!

When you do make some post some those delicious pictures again?

No my family loves sweets and I refuse to bring regular Suites in my house so I usually make alternatives for my family they’re more than welcome to eat sweets independently but please just not in the house. I like keto brownies but I’m not really big on sweets. I have posted my keto brownie recipe and pictures previously I’m not sure if you’re new to the group

I don’t have any mom fruit I usually use your erythritol because it’s the cheapest one out of all the sugars. But I’ve been doing a little research and they state that using those artificial sugars disrupt your gut biome I’m learning this stuff as I go alone but at the end of the day if you have keto sweets and it helps you stay within the keto die by all means use it but I’m starting to learn that some of those sugars disrupt the gut biome I don’t know if this is true or false. What is your take on this?

My concern about artificial sweeteners is they act too much like HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) which does not engage insulin but instead your liver takes that and converts it directly into visceral fat and populates it around the internal organs. Almost all junk food has some form of HFCS under different names to hide it and not only that within the last five years they have made higher concentrated forms of it.

Originally when you dig deep enough artificial sweeteners were designed to be an insecticide to starve insects?

What HFCS does, is it punches holes in your intestinal tract microvilli and then what you eat goes directly into your blood stream without being appropriately digested.

Artificial sweeteners in the research have also been confirmed to alter your gut microbiome making you glucose intolerant to natural sugars already in the plants like leafy greens, veggies and fruits your eating.

If you were to carb-up (at least 350 grams a day in carbohydrates) 5 days before a glucose tolerance test and you fail, you will be labeled a diabetic. And that is probably the artificial sweeter not the ketogenic diet?

I can relate, I bake for other family members too :slight_smile: I ate sweets all the time on keto before but it’s over. Now I bake mostly for others :slight_smile:
I see no problem with my sugar alcohols (of course there are so many things I don’t know about them) but I do my best to use as little as possible. I can do zero in my own case, it won’t happen with the others… It’s clearly way better than simple sugar for everyone in my family.

I have to confess that I had my daughter make a low carb cheesecake yesterday. A whole lot of down time right now that I usually don’t have (off work due to Corona virus) so I thought I might as well expand my low carb offerings. I’m down close to 40 lbs right now with about 25 more to go.

@Karla_Sykes
I guess I am pretty new. Hello! I too don’t want any regular sweets at home and do eat keto desserts from time to time. We have 4 types of tastebuds for a reason! My problem seems to be that when I eat anything that tastes sweet- I get that insulin reaction. Oh well- sometimes it has to be.:grin:
