Hello all, I’m new to this forum and would appreciate your advice. I’ve been avoiding carbohydrate-rich foods for about 2 months and I’m in ‘ketosis’ and ‘fat adapted’. I tend to have quite elevated ketone readings but when I’m fasting they’ll go up to 4.8 to 6.7 mmol/L. As I’m looking to lose bodyfat at the moment I tend to do a 58-72 hour fast from Sunday night to Wednesday morning; I’ve been doing this for the last 3 weeks.
During the fast I take the F-BRK Komplex supplement and I drink percolated caffeinated coffee and sometimes percolated decaffeinated coffee; both without any milk or sugar. I’ll also have a glass or so of Apple Cider Vinegar water (usually about a tablespoon or two of ACV). I take supplements each morning including Boron, Selenium, Vit D, Magnesium, Zinc, Lutein.
When I’m not fasting I tend to have ketone readings between 1.3 mmol/L to about 2.3 mmol/L depending on how strict I’ve been with consuming carbohydrates (it varies with me; I had a croissant last week as a treat but had very few carbs for the rest of the day and kept the total carbs below 30g overall for the day).
Unfortunately during my fasts I do tend to have stomach pain; kind of feels like there’s just one spot in my abdomen which feels slightly tender and painful. Is this normal?
I want to continue on my bodyfat-loss journey as I’m carrying it out at the moment as it’s having good results. I started in June and it’s now coming to the end of September; it’s been the first time in my life I’ve been able to really take control of my weight and I feel generally more healthier and fitter as a result of it. I don’t anticipate I’ll do these long fasts forever but I’m happy to have this ‘strategy’ in my back pocket for when I need it.
