I'm back for more!

According to Einstein the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. For me, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing that you know works over and over again and then forgetting that it worked and returning to it!

Last year you guys helped me drop about 40 lbs. in an insanely short amount of time. I felt fantastic and reshaped my body and mind. But, over the course of the last six months I have slowly returned to the SAD and begun to use food as comfort and reward (as in, “Yes, I had a hard day and I deserve that (high processed carb - fill in the blank”)! I regained about half the weight, felt achey and sore and hungover in the mornings and returned to the fog of the too familiar “brain cloud” each day.

Anyway, just putting a stake in the ground to say: I’m back, this time it will be different. Really. I hope…

So, now four days in. Not measuring my macros yet because I know the program (though I will get back to measuring though because I enjoy the analysis). No processed foods, few carbs other than veggies and beans in my homemade chili.

Great news! I woke up feeling FANTASTIC this morning and have been full of energy all day and not hungry until noon. My body is telling me that this is what it wants: non-processed real food in a low carb, moderate protein and fat-until-satiety ratio.

And the best part about “coming back?” I know what to do. Yup. I know all of the tips and tricks and am so pumped to give my body the nutrition it needs to perform at a high level. This past weekend I did the old “dump and restock maneuver,” so my kitchen is ready to go.Thanks, Richard, for made me a believer in sous vide cooking last year (which I have never stopped); I am ready to immerse myself (er, sorry) in that again.

Good to be back among the living, friends!

Garrett
