If you take iodine, how much do you take?

I was taking this:

(RnA ReSet ReMyte – Electrolyte Mineral Solution with Magnesium, Iodine, Selenium & Zinc)

This is a liquid electrolyte solution that has some iodine in it. 75 mcg for the serving size, which I was taking once per day. Started measuring it, but then gave up and put a little in my morning coffee. So I actually got about 120 days or so from the bottle.

I’m not taking this anymore, because I have other liquid drips (MTHFR B vitamins, zinc/copper).

I started taking one drop of this for maybe 4 days a week:

( J.CROW’S® Lugol’s Solution of Iodine 2%)

That’s 2.5 mg of iodine per day (one drop) I take it versus 0.075 mg/day when I used the mineral solution. About 33 times as much on a per day basis. Yikes!

If you take iodine, eg, using Lugol’s solution, how much do you take?

I take 3 to 4 drops of 2% J. Crow liquid iodine in my morning coffee. After watching Dr Ken Berry say any extra iodine consumed is eliminated, I haven’t worried as much about too much.

That’s good to know.

When I started taking iodine a long time ago, there was a theory that you needed to take really high levels to “push out” the fluoride from locations like the thyroid. I started taking a ton, like huge pills of iodine. That was okay for a while, but over time, I developed arrhythmias that I think were due to the huge amount of iodine I was taking. I seem to remember the pills being 20+ mg. Once I stopped taking these, the arrhythmias went away. So, I get concerned every time I start taking “too much” of anything.

We had taken iodine for a while. Honestly, I didn’t notice any difference at all, good or bad.

My wife takes some supplements that are targeted towards known issues. Me, not so much. I tend to try to just eat good food and avoid bad food. Not a carnivore but heavy on the beef and eggs.

A doctor online made the statement that “you can’t exercise your way out of a bad diet”. I may be stretching a bit but I’m not sure a person can supplement their way out of a bad diet either, something I see a lot of people suggesting on social media (not so much here, out in the big bad world.)

I am of the same mind @Bellyman, only thing that I also think about, is I don’t know what “exactly” I’m getting since I sure am not able to raise my own food.

I also wanted to mention I did buy some lugol’s iodine but didn’t use any. I read some things that concerned me, just never got started. Later on, I was looking through my cupboard where all I keep is supplements. There was yellow almost everywhere, and found out it was the bottle of iodine, and it was in a dark, glass container plus a cardboard tube with lid kinda thing.

That freaked me out, not to mention, relieved I was able to clean it all off my cupboards. I never looked into why it does that, I guess I was worried it might color me yellow

I eat a small amount of whole dried Atlantic Dulse seaweed every day or two. I have tried four or five other seaweeds but prefer the flavor of the Atlantic Dulse. I get my seaweeds from Rainbow Grocery in San Francisco. They have their dried seaweeds in the bulk containers. As a general rule I try to get my nutrients from whole foods is my reason for this approach to getting my iodine.
