Yep, me too, pre-keto and keto.
If they only knew
Wow, thank you! I was beginning to think my appetite loss was an anomaly I used the phrasing they used on tv but they were referring to thoughts about wanting to eat. They were also saying they feel they think about it a lot more often than 240 hours a year. One host said she doesn’t know how to “not give in.” She commented on another host’s (Al Roker) technique of “distracting” himself when he’s thinking about food. It really does make me sad. I remember the angst and frustration of eating a healthy, so-called “fulfilling” meal but still feeling hungry an hour later. I am so glad to be off that constant hunger cycle and I hate seeing people suffer needlessly.
I do the exact same thing, even take pics of meals with my cell phone, just because. I recently had to face that fact that food and things involving it, are a creative outlet for me. I am always going to have food on the brain.
For me, it’s been a dramatic decline in time spent thinking about food. I used to obsess about food, especially in the late afternoon and evenings. Now, I will think that I should eat soon and the next time I think about it is hours later. I do get hungry and I prepare food, but I just don’t really find it interesting enough to occupy my mind anymore.
I think my intense sugar addiction caused the pre-keto obsession, not any particular interest in food itself. With the addiction under control, it’s just not on my radar. When I sit down to eat, I wish I had taken enough interest to prepare something other than bacon, eggs and salad. But I never do. I don’t like to cook or to plan meals, and this WOE is really impossible without some meal prep. So, the down side of not thinking about food, is not thinking about how to get food into the house and into my belly. I envy those of you who continue to be interested in it.
When fasting I find myself more often than not thinking about food and planning on what to eat at the end. But neither am I really hungry during the fast. Often break a fast because it’s just time to eat or elect to eat.
I also buy all kinds of intriguing things that I plan to eat when I’m re-feeding. But I’ll be darned if I don’t forget about many of those same items and just eat my meat and veggies.
Halloween 2017 for me. When I went Keto and lost my hunger. Not looking for it either
My Mum is addicted to magnums! she will think nothing more of buying 2 multipacks and smashing both in during the day, and pretty much eating nothing else!
Yup. Me too. I drive my wife nuts by buying all sorts of weird stuff, powdered pyslium husks, etc for elaborate recipes I’ve seen. When I come off the fast though, I just grill up a ribeye and cream some cabbage…

My point was, it really does make me sad that so many people are still struggling with the hunger cycle.
