Does anyone do 20/4 IF? I have been trying to keep my eating window to 2pm to 6pm and was wondering if there is any benefit or if anyone else has experience with this type of fasting.
IF for 20 hours/day - any benefit?
I tend to do a more 4pm to 8 pm window but not every day but yes have found it very helpful.
That allied with an ultra low carb diet (now more carnivore) has put T2 diabetes into remission, cured a number of other health issues and lost and maintained 120 pounds so far.
I think I’ve done 20/4. I know I’ve done 23/1 (one meal a day - OMAD). I can’t say it’s night and day different from my usual 18/6 (two meals a day). Just having one meal a day vs two (OMAD vs. TMAD) seems to matter more than the exact spacing. At least for me.
To get an improvement over OMAD, I have to go to an Alternate Day fast and go like 40 or 42 hours from dinner until I eat again.
There is benefit to any type of fasting.
I do 21/3
I only eat between 9-12pm, 800 calories for two weeks as I’ve been pretty naughty lately and need to get my mind back on track.
I only drink black coffee or water.
I do not do IF. I eat 3 times per day. I know many people benefit from IF. Many good scientists say IF is good.
What I would say is that if IF fits you, do it by all means. But keto does not require IF.
I would say that, for me, what matters is the amount of food that keeps you well and without hunger. I tried once OMAD, and I was really hungry during the day. Instead, eating 3 times per day keeps me satisfied and without hunger.
We all are n=1.
What it seems it is clearly beneficial, without doubt, is to do fasting from time to time, about 5 days or so.
Down almost 100 lbs in 7 months on OMAD. One meal that usually takes 10-15 minutes to eat. Never hungry, not much loose skin despite the rapid loss. I think autophagy is working with my long fasting window. I also have done 10 x 48 hour fasts in the 7 months.
Yes, I do. I do not know why you say so, but keto is quite generic, and in particular, keto is not carnivore at all.
Starvation ketosis or nutritional though?
I get lost with what you are eating sometimes…
