Ideas Please

I am going to a girl’s night for the first time since going Keto. It’s potluck and I have been asked to bring deviled eggs.

Since I don’t know what is on he menu, I need ideas for bringing something else along that would work for me.

Ideas?

PS: I’m really going to miss having wine…

I would pack myself some food.

Honestly you can eat an undressed salad. Or if it’s it’s all hors de ouervres, bring wings too. Everyone will thing it’s nice of you to bring 2 apps and you are just having another keto dish available. Make your eggs keto for sure.

How about a spinach and artichoke dip with cream cheese and some keto crackers? Or if it’s fancy, smoked salmon on little savoury keto pancakes? Otherwise a cheese board is always a winner!

Bacon?

Thank you for the delicious suggestions. I think I’ll make cream cheese stuffed jalapeno peppers wrapped in bacon.

Def bring wings the next time!

You can’t drink wine? I think most reds are around 4g of carbs per glass. Maybe there is another reason, just wanted to mention that though.

I ended up taking savory roasted pecans to our Xmas party. Everybody loved them, much to my chagrin, because I was hoping to take the remainder home!

I enjoy cheese, cured meats and antipasti vegetables (artichoke, asparagus, olives, pickles), at these events. Perhaps you could bring them in addition to whatever you are providing. You could also bring some of these (as emergency foods) and only bring them out if there are not other suitable options.

Depending on your relationship with the host you might want to ask, “Hey, I have some food restrictions for health reasons at the moment, will there be a cheese platter, cold meats, olives? (insert food option you would like to have). If not I am happy to bring some along.”

The other strategy that Megan Ramos suggests before a big food event is to eat a good fatty meal before, so you are not hungry. Eggs, avocado, bacon or another meat.

Unless there is another reason to restrict wine you can have dry white and red wines. If they are dry they are likely to have less sugar and carbs. So you could aim to have a glass or two. You could space them out with having a sparkling water with lime going through out the night.

Hope you enjoy the night!
