Hey all,

I’ve been on Keto for a month with IF (16:8) everyday to.
For the first three weeks I dropped 20lb and this last week I’ve gained 3-5lb back.
Now I know we initially drop water weight and I understand we will gain weight back when the water returns. And obviously the theory is that as water comes back you’re still dropping fat, so scales are not necessarily going to show anything.

However I just wanted to get some other opinions on this and to see if anyone else had it and how long it lasted for?

Thanks

OK, so I’ll ask my most obvious questions.

  1. Are you tracking your food intake?

  2. Are you eating enough?

I’ve seen that the water re-balancing stage seems to last about a week. If you continue to gain weight after that, then there is something else going on, most likely overeating.

Or MANY other things besides this…

The other thing is hidden carbs. If you’re not eating 100% real food, you really need to read those labels and look for all 63+ disguises for sugar, anything that says “starch,”, etc. There are lots of things that are labeled 0 carbs that you should really count .5 carb per serving (or count 1 if it says < 1), especially if serving sizes are small. Look for the “hidden carbs” topic here in the forums if you think you might need to start hunting for them.

Yes eating very carefully, to the point I’m trying to be as close to zero carbs as poss, obviously they are some from veg but only small amounts. I’ve tested urine and I’m aound 3-4 mmol/L so that seams good.

I’m eating nothing that is in anyway processed, all natural. The only thing I do have that is questionable is the odd cup of tea with milk. I drink mostly water.

Some days I may have an omelette for first meal of the day at 2-3pm then an evening meal ie: steak, mushrooms & asparagus and nothing much else.
Sometimes maybe a coffee with cream.

I find it really strange

OK, so what are you tracking with?

How many calories are you getting?

Also, how old, tall, weight, and so on.

I realise this is probably not what you want to hear but I think it is too soon to start thinking about what might have caused the ‘gain’ and instead just KCKO; it sounds like you are doing really well with your food choices etc. Maybe start weighing 4-weekly and look for trends over the months rather than on a weekly basis, it can be so discouraging to be scale focused and not see the hoped-for results especially in the initial stages of keto.

Just keep going for now, until you settle down (easier said than done, I know).
Reassure yourself that, this WOE works.

Well done so far… … great results!!

Thanks for the replies.
I have kinda just got my head down and got on with it in the true spirit of KCKO and keep telling myself that i’m ok and sod the scales, they are no ones friends cos they never give you the whole picture. I do appreciate the replies.

(puts head back down and cracks on) lol
