I think I'm doing this wrong

Loaded with Omega 6 not 3. We need more 3 in our diets.

It can still mess with your insulin response. Best to stay away from it.

I was simply stating it is NOT artificial, but from a plant…which is natural.

I was simply stating that it is NOT artificial…I said nothing more than that.

Drop the sweetener and definitely drop the soda.

I always have a hard time with this. True, Stevia comes from a plant. But it’s so far removed from the plant form. For instance, take a look at how canola oil is derived:

https://www.canolacouncil.org/oil-and-meal/what-is-canola/how-canola-is-processed/steps-in-oil-and-meal-processing/

The oil is in the seeds, but is it really ā€œnaturalā€? You can’t go find a ā€œcanolaā€ (rapeseed) plant and get oil out of it. Similarly, you can’t do the same with Stevia.

Personally, I tried to avoid anything sweet for a long time. I would infrequently have something sweet, but tried to avoid it.

Ok - I will try to cut out the artificial sweeteners from the coffee - and will cur down on the diet sodas, and hopefully cut the out all together eventually. I purchased the urine strips today so that should help me determine what effects me and what doesn’t correct? And if I find that I say in ketosis after having a diet dew then maybe I will keeping having one everyone once in a while. (I know - I am stubborn and resistant to giving up my crutch…baby steps).

Well - its more of a protein thing. I feel like I am getting more protein than I am supposed to be. (according to when I was tracking regular) so I cut out meat at breakfast (no bacon or sausage or anything) and cut it in half at lunch, and eat normal at dinner. I’m not starving this way, though I wont say that I’m not hungry. But having calorie restricted to about 700/day for a long time I am used to being hungry.

But it has fillers such as glucose or dextrose, otherwise it would be to fine a grain, so yes but itself it comes from a plant, however what is in the little packs has fillers

Oops… fingers can’t keep up with my brain. Of course. Omega 6

I just made my own ranch today.
It contains:

  • 1C Sour Cream
  • 1/2 Cup Heavy Cream (plus extra to thin out to taste)
  • 2 Tbsp Buttermilk mix (I couldn’t find buttermilk)
  • Dill seasonng
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Parsley (which I forgot to put in)

Thank you!! That sounds good, I will make a screenie of that for my desktop to try that =).

I have a little folder on my desktop called Keto Recipes, so that will be added to my collection. That sounds good and is very simple and should work well!

I editted it to add in the buttermilk mix. I didn’t find any liquid buttermilk at the store, but the recipe could be easily made with or without it.

Okay, thanks =).

Whew - this is a long post!

Please don’t think I am nitpicking your progress. As you say, baby steps. You have to proceed with what you can manage. If that means a glass or two of pop a day or some artificial sweetener, so be it. As you get more time under your belt, some of these things will slip away and it will become easier in general in many ways.

I had to comment about the protein and low calories (haven’t read any responses yet, but I’m sure others have already offered their advice). For the first few months and until it falls away naturally, I would eat as much protein as you want - without any concern. I’m certain you’re not going to overdose on protein. When you get to the point where you have done this long enough, eaten sufficient quantities and enough fat/protein to satisfy your body, I believe you will naturally morph to two meals a day and then possibly one. This in itself will keep your protein at acceptable levels. For now, you want to restore your body - by feeding it acceptable foods (protein/fat/clean foods).

Forget about calories. It is difficult based on all the years we used to ā€œdiet.ā€ Diets don’t work - they are not sustainable. On keto, you have to eat (feed your body), especially in the beginning. Let go of any fear that comes from adopting a WOE so different than what has been shoved down our throats by the FDA and dieting industry.

If you do this for a while, you will find it is so easy - and you won’t be hungry. It will also remove a lot of the cravings for foods you don’t want to eat. It did for me, anyway.

Lastly, I don’t know what you are doing, but I only weigh like every 2-3 months. This may not seem doable, but the scale can be the devil. It can really undermine your success. I never measured with pee sticks or anything else (but a lot of people do and find it helpful). I know if I am following the basics, I will be in ketosis. I don’t want another thing to laser focus on and worry about. Keto can be so easy, sometimes I have to pinch myself.

God bless; good luck!

I use store bought ranch because I only use it seldom.
