I think i have the Keto Flu

(Patrick) #1

I’m over a week into keto but i think i’m experiencing the Keto Flu? Brain fog, headaches, feel like garbage, no energy. It’s been this way for a few days, why is it hitting me late? I was fine and had energy then this hit me all of a sudden.

Why? Everyone is different. KCKO

I had 2 cups of Pacific Organic Chicken Broth (590 sodium per cup) earlier, i’ll try the sea salt i have in my kitchen (500 sodium per 1/4th teaspoon) In my meals and buy a huge bag of spinich to mix with my spring mix as i’ve not pooped in nearly 2 days due to lack of fiber and i’ll get lots of posassium from that. I went YEARS feeling worse then this pre keto because I never took care of my health or my vitamins/water and sat at home playing video games all day and little to no excercise. It’s really hard to do anything when you get older (33) I have noticed now, so I have to do something or i’ll feel like death everyday for the rest of my life.

Hey, 33 isn’t old! You’ll feel better soon and then for the rest of your (longer) life  remember you’re doing something positive and all will be well.

I quit smoking at that age and started jogging. Now 41, I run commute and race marathons. Good luck with your new life!

For the late keto flu hit, it may be that you lasted a week to be in ketosis. If your carbohydrate or protein intake was on the high side it’s quite possible. If you don’t cook expect a shitload of hidden carbs…

Feeling better, I went out and bought a bulletproof coffee which always gives me energy and more awakeness rather then dealing with the flu. I dunno if that’s a wise idea or not though? Thanks guys.

I see nothing unwise about a fatty coffee. If that helps then go for it.

Just meant in terms of if that cancels out the flu and restarts it or something. I feel fine today except my back I took out 3 weeks ago. Just gonna wait for the huge energy boost people get on keto.

Well, I think it’s gone now. Yesterday I had more energy then I have had in years, I was bouncing all over the place at work and even after a long brutal 8 hour shift where everything was going wrong I still had a TON of energy and later that night went out to buy some stuff and felt awesome on my walk and told myself I never wanna feel like I used to again. So I guess the flu is now over. Today I’m tired but I’ve had so little sleep and I worked again. Not ate in nearly 2 days, so i’ll be eating later even if I’m not hungry, I need my nutrients.
