I think I bought the wrong Blood Testing Kit! HELP

#1

Hi all,

I’m new to Keto lifestyle. I bought the SD Codefree machine but have been using Just fitter ketone testing strips for just over 2 weeks now.

I’ve opened the machine and have been using it, I’m getting readings of 4.6-47mmol/L…I now suspect I’m doing it all wrong, by it, I mean I’m not using the correct machine to measure my ketones! If people are using a glucometer what is the maths how do I know I’m in keto? I’m tempted to purchase a new KETONE machine from Amazon, if so which one is the best one (I’m in the UK)?

Thank you muchly

The SD Codefree does not measure ketones it measures blood glucose levels.
I bought a Caresens Dual which measures blood glucose and Ketones (I just use it for ketones as the strips for the codefree for blood glucose are cheaper.
You can get it here…
http://spirit-healthcare.co.uk/product-category/shop/caresens-dual/
the meter itself is free the ketone test strips are £9.95 for 10.

So far as I know you cannot mix strips and meters successfully… you need to use the strips that were designed for your meter.

hm…that’s (relatively!) cheap for ketone strips. I was not aware of that meter. Thanks.

Pleasure… it also seems to need slightly less blood than the SD Codefree so if you dislike deep finger pricking it may be better for blood glucose too although the strips do cost a bit more.
