I seem to be getting fatter

#21

I eat a lot of cauliflower, broccoli and spinach and the only fruit I eat is avocado but very rarely.
Maybe my body is freaking out over it.

I’m definitely getting stomach pains and it has a burning sensation sometimes? I woke up this morning feeling nauseous with a sweet metallic taste in my mouth.
I was already in Ketosis though and I have been for a little while.

I’ve gotten the sweet taste in the mouth thing twice, very randomly well after being fat adapted. I goes away, but it’s annoying and made me want to eat something salty/savory to offset it.

Hey, speaking from my own experience in Keto. I kept experiencing bloating and lethargy especially after eating. The penny dropped when I had a big spinach and chicken salad with avocado oil. Nothing else. I couldn’t understand how that could make me feel that way. So I bit the bullet and went Zero Carb / Carnivore for 30 days. The benefits were almost instant. There was some adaption as expected but no bloat, better energy, mental clarity and the excess weight dropped off. And people wouldn’t of described me as fat beforehand. I was and still am an endurance runner. Something about completely removing fibre really helped and the higher protein also. Theres tons of information out there on this now so I won’t try educate you in this short post but my N=1 saw significant improvements in all areas. Worth a 30 day trial for anyone I think.

Looks normal?

Not sure how you could be gaining weight?

Your weight maintenance is immaculate, most people that are overweight wish they could do that!

(Kel Ta) #25

I am not really a person that is adjusting my diet bc of weight issues but I gained weight after 3 years on Keto. I am around the same height as you and I just think it was just too much energy in beyond what my body could utilize. I shifted my eating pattern to burnfatnotsugar.com and my weight normalized and my guts were still happy. Of course you’ve been a month in so you might want to give it a bit longer to see how it works- it’s possible your body is still trying to shift over to fat burning as primary fuel.

#26

But I feel unhealthy and I’m flabby with a lot of stretch marks on my belly. I want to get down to atleast 112lbs as I felt great at that weight. My energy levels and sleeping pattern was great.

I hate my body now, my belly hangs out, my back fat leaks out of my bra and don’t even get me started on the old thigh chub rub lol.

Immaculate or not. I’m not happy in my body and I really want to lose weight and feel better.

Maybe I’m not gaining weight, fat weight anyway, but I’m definitely not losing any.

You’re probably like “…ok beeech I don’t need to know your life story” lol

Ps: I hope this didn’t across as snotty, I’m really really not trying to sound defensive or stubborn or be rude.

I feel fantastic after eating. I’m satisfied and chilled and I actually don’t feel bloated after. I use to before Keto. I’d have a meal, feel bloated and stuffed even though my portion size was normal and I’d want to sleep straight after. Which I assume was due to carbs.

But I’m bloated the moment I wake up and the moment I go to bed. The only time I don’t feel bloated is when I’m eating. Strangely.

This diet really confuses me with how it’s effectjng my body. Despite the months of research I did before starting I’m definitely still a novice.

#28

Maybe it is just bloating and my body is having a toddler tantrum and making out it’s dying because I have no sugar or gluten carbs. I use to eat pasta a lot.

I’ve stsrted eating sauerkraut so I’m hoping it might help. I mean even if it doesn’t the health benefits are still worth eating it

Should I eat something like pork rinds (pork scratchings) if I get the taste again? How do you combat it?

(LeeAnn Brooks) #30

That’s exactly what I did, but it didn’t help. The taste came right back after I’d finish eating one or two rinds. It finally went away on its own.

  1. What is the BMI for a person who is 5’3 and weighs 112 pounds? This calculates the body mass index of both men and women. If I am 5’3 and weigh 112 lbs, is that a good weight? How much is the BMI? What should I weigh? Below are approximate definitions of a certain BMI.

Gelatin: Because the loss of collagen often results in stretch marks, it would make sense that gelatin, one of the best dietary sources of collagen available, can help decrease the risk of stretch marks as well as minimize those that already exist. When taken by mouth into the body, this superfood helps to firm skin and promotes growth of new cells in addition to providing joint support, hair and nail health and improving digestion. Collegen protein is a great source as well as bone broth.

Ah ok, I suppose experimentation and variation may be required; nothing stays static forever, especially diet.

#33

I definitely don’t have lose skin, but once I lose the 28lbs I’m sure I will have. Thank you for the videos. I’m using exercise to not just help with weight loss but to tone up also

Reading this is a relief for me because I am experiencing the exact same thing!! I am finishing up my first month of keto and the first couple weeks I quickly dropped a lot of water weight but now I feel like I am gaining FAT and it’s so frustrating! If you ever watch/listen to KetoConnect they mentioned that this is common. Apparently this is the time frame where most people give up keto because they now think it is failing. So it seems the solution is to just ride it out for a few more weeks while your body adapts. I myself am trying not to get too stressed out and instead continue to listen to my body, eat when I’m hungry, and stop when I’m full. You look like you are doing great, so don’t be too hard on yourself! Keep up the good work and trust that the rest will fall into place :).

P.S. your calories do look a little low but if you feel totally satiated and good where you’re at, then you do you!

#35

Thank you
I love KetoConnect they make some great recipes and they don’t act like a cult if that makes sense lol. They really show how keto life is everyday. I also love Headbangers kitchen.

I think I may have found my problem with the fat/bloating issue… and I may need to open up another topic lol. ‘Shark week’ or ‘lady flow’ is nearly 5 days late and apparently this is common for women on keto? So I’m going to start adding small amounts of brown rice to see if that helps me get back to being regular.

I’m just scared I’ll mess up my diet and be counterproductive. Really need some guidance on this.

(LeeAnn Brooks) #36

From what I’ve heard, most of the problems with Keto messing up periods only last 3-4 cycles.

Ive yet to hear from anyone that has had these issues long term.

#37

Oh that’s good to hear >.< thank you.
It’s my first cycle on keto so I have no idea what to expect or what to do to combat it if you’re suppose to combat it at all.

#38

I only missed one cycle at first and then not again. You may not need to add rice to get it - it might just show up right on time next month - lucky you

#40

It appears it shunted my cycle by 6days but I’m fine now. I weighed myself today and I’m 8lbs heavier than when I started Keto a month ago. Is it possible that this 8lbs is due to water weight?Possibly going into my fat cells and then this added menstrual weight?

I’m now 148lbs making my BMI 26.1 and I’m classed as overweight. Apparently I need to lose over a stone to get back to a healthy weight??

#41

It could be bloat, yes, but quite frankly that’s a lot of weight for water gain. Generally, bloat/water weight comes fast. LIke you were 5 lbs yesterday and then bam! Your body can’t put on fat that quickly, so then you’d know it was bloat. But the gradual increase (and I don’t know which is yours, I’m just sharing my experience) is usually not bloat. Also, bloat gain is mostly all in the stomach and is harder than fat gain which shows up in your places where you store fat (different for all) and is also squishier.
