I saw who I don’t want to be

#1

I went for a walk at lunch today. I saw 2 men, both of whom had that hard redness to their lower legs and ankles; looked like cellulitis. Both of them were extremely obese and had a difficult time walking. It made me realize how far I’ve come in 3 months and also what I don’t want to be— sick, obese, and barely mobile. If I hadn’t started Keto when I did, I would be heading down that path that they are on. So very happy and grateful that I’m not!

Congratulations!

I agree with you. I don’t meet my sister often as she lives 3000 miles away, but a few years ago I was shocked to see’d hit 320 lb (she’s 5’ 4") and this January she had her gallbladder removed. She’s gone the way of my dad only worse, he always struggled with weight and autoimmune issues and was dead by 71, with terrible quality of life those last years. She says food is the only real pleasure in life and she’s going to eat whatever she likes. Doesn’t make sense to me but I tried.

I got that after a spider bite (insert obligatory “everything in Australia is trying to kill you” reference here) and if they were walking with it, I’m impressed by them. I could struggle up and downstairs a few times a day, and that was about it. (I have some great photos I can share if people are interested…)

This takes me back to nursing my nursing school days… I’d be out with friends or family and diagnose people just like this walking around. Swollen red legs is also a sign of the heart on working properly. It’s very scary and a wake up call for sure.

Exactly! Poor circulation and if it continues then they are on the way to having ther leg amputated!
That thought just terrifies me! :scream:

Keep yourself well Ann!!!

Thanks, @Monurse! I am doing every thing I can to prevent that from happening to me. It is certainly very motivating to keep me on program! Friday & Saturday I was not so diligent w/ my carbs, and I resolved to get back on track yesterday (which I did). And today I doubled down on my efforts and have had several great BS readings!

Yeah, me too (ask around…)

I see what you did there! LOL! :joy: :joy::joy:
