I need firepower. Shareable clips?

SOOOOOOO

I am not sure how many people have seen the video going around Facebook and other social media about the “health benefits of switching to a plant based vegan diet” specifically for treating a long list of diseases(including diabetes). I have been tagged in it by just about every family member I know and have watched it, to me it sounds like a load of BULLSHIT with no science to back it up. I have defended my stance on this many times and have tried linking people to different articles and scientific studies, however, it never really hits with people because its not in a nifty little 2 min video they can watch. Nobody wants to read a scientific article or study.

SO, does anyone have anything similar to the video going around that supports a ketogenic diet? Just a short 2-5 min video clip, nothing too in depth, but gets the point across? Something to comment back with or share on my own wall?

Lead the way by example.
I’ll say any Facebook battling sounds well intention-ed but not worth it.
Focus. On you.
KCKO.

You cant learn LCHF Keto in 2-5 minutes.
Tell them to come here and ask questions.
… IF … they are interested.

This sounds like a job for the 2 Keto Dudes! They could produce a video with success stories including before and after pictures and their own elevator pitch/quick description of keto. Some quick examples of the delicious foods on the keto diet would be great too. @richard @carl

I agree I abstain from facebook battling and do not even respond.

BUT I see how effective these are at getting through to people just by the sheer number of people sharing it with me to prove me wrong, but nobody even comments on a study I post months ago supporting a low carb diet.

Id love to have something to post that may have similar results and get people that interest to come looking for answers themselves, just need that spark. It is something I feel is lacking, I know the dudes made the podcast to share with people which is great! But it is still a 15 minute podcast that most people will see the length of and that it is audio only and just click away from

If they could that would be amazing! I know they made their shareable short intro to keto podcast which was AMAZING. BUT at the same time its a 15 minute audio only podcast. I know many people I share with online would click on it, see it is over that ~5 minute mark and that it is audio only and just click away as interest would fade too fast.

If we had just a 5 min video pitch that could spark the interest enough to get someone to listen to the 15 min podcast which then could get them more interest to come here looking for answers I think it would be amazing and could get many people on board

Which is why they are watching and spreading misinformation. Not worth messing with IMO

Well, one of the things the dudes said they aimed to do more of with the Patreon fundraiser was YouTube videos, so here is a great project to include. Good idea.

Would love to see something like this, too, not really to argue so much as just to share an alternative viewpoint.

I see a lot of the plant based vegan stuff, too. Heck, I was a vegan at one time. (Felt the worst I’ve ever felt in my life doing it, but I did it, for a year or so.) I even have quite a lot of friends and acquaintances that are of the mindset that “the only healthy way to eat is plant based vegan”, even though none of them actually do.

I would be the first to admit that there may be more than one healthy way of eating. But I, too, get tired of being bombarded with the Facebook posts and have little more to fire back than my own personal experience, which I do pretty regularly. (Hey, I started keto in August and am down 50 pounds as of today! That usually gets an “attaboy” but it’s only me.)

See but sometimes its just over a lot of peoples heads.

My mother in law is my perfect example. She is not technical or scientific at all. Shes a small town raised and simple lady(not saying that in a bad way, shes amazing). She doesn’t know what an Abstract is and has no intention to learn now. She would get 3 sentences in and be lost with the first mention of homeostatic signaling errors, metabolic dysfunction, or even just mention of a clinical control group. (Again, no offense to her, she just has no interest in science)

However, she would GREATLY benefit from a keto diet. But she just wont try it, she almost did when she saw my success, but then her doctor and trainer scared her off saying “it may work but will clog your arteries in a few years” I tried to share with her studies disproving the saturated fat and cholesterol problems but she refuses any articles that she doesn’t understand anyway and chooses to believe her doctor.

Attaboy! Way to go!

(Crippie) #10

You said it perfectly! This is exactly how I am feeling.

I too admit that there’s more than one way to eat healthy, some people are perfectly fine with a plant based diet, but some people need something like keto.

I see the vegan videos and stuff shared everywhere and even get bombarded, but have nothing to share myself except for scientific studies. Id love to be able to post a video like these vegan ones that could potentially get through to someone, and maybe help start this grass roots revolution we have for keto

(Shayne) #11

My strategy is to simply untag myself from their posts.

I did start watching Butter Bob on youtube last night and while the videos are much longer than 2 minutes, he does explain things in a very simple way that maybe could get through to those non-scientific family members.

(VLC.MD) #12

Any videos here … “Keto Health benefits YouTube” ?

(VLC.MD) #13

What about Vegan Keto

That incorporates their philosophical views, with the benefits of keto !

(Brian) #14

I wonder. Seriously, and I’m not just saying that to be insulting or disrespectful of the choices that others make that are different than mine.

While I can appreciate some of what the vegan community advocates, I am not convinced that it’s actually the healthiest diet. If it were, wouldn’t we be seeing a community of vegans that were well in excess of 100 years old and doing marvelously health wise?

One of the most noted groups of centenarians is in Japan, where it is noted that they are not vegans nor are they vegetarians.

FWIW, I do tend to lean towards wanting a significant portion of my nutrition coming from high quality plant sources. But I have come to the point where I also want some high quality animal sources to round out my nutritional needs. At one time, I felt almost as though I should apologize for thinking that way. (I grew up in a mostly vegetarian family, which was a part of their religion.) But no more. I am way more interested in good health than arbitrary religious traditions.

To each their own, of course, but just sharing a little from a place I don’t go too often.

(Crow T. Robot) #15

Me too. I’m sure that a well-formulated vegan diet is much much better than the SAD diet. And, if you’re willing to take some supplements, you can probably not have many major deficiencies. However, it’s a really hard diet to do right and not have problems on eventually. Most people who try it give up in less than a year.

My view is: If you have ethical concerns, I can respect that, but be honest. Enough with the lies that a vegan diet is the ideal human diet.

I believe that this is just the animal rights activist organizations (mainly PETA, who openly (if you google it) front organizations that promote veganism as healthy, and demonize animal foods). This is nothing but more propaganda. They are pushing back and are not going to go away.

GThey are longer than you’re looking for but the dudes have a couple of into videos on YouTube. There might be a clip you can use in there.
