I made a list of reasons

(Karen) #1

When I started dieting in general , and later a keto woe, I made a list to remind me of why I was doing this…

  1. To make my mom and dad proud
  2. To look better in my daughter’s October wedding pictures
  3. To win cash - weigh and win. So far $70
  4. To be healthier and improve my kidney health
  5. To look better at class reunions. I plan them so hard to avoid.
  6. To make my children proud
  7. To be able to hike, camp, and exercise more easily
  8. To have a longer healthy life.
  9. To look better dressed
  10. To get some weight off my arthritic feet

What’s your list? I feel by getting fat I let others and myself down.

1.To avoid hypoglycemic episodes.(Not diabetic, just hypoglycemic)
2. To make my family proud.
3. To avoid being mistaken for my younger sister’s mother. (She looks fantastic for her age, which is 64)
4. To be able to be more physically active.
5. To take more pride in my own appearance(something I badly neglect when I weigh more)
6. To hopefully avoid the ravages of Alzheimers (going through now with my mom)
7. To be able to keep working. (67 now and hate the thought of total retirement.)
8. To help my back, legs and feet!

I built a list of Goals and Markers to share with my doctor and the trainer I work with to set up a workout routine. It’s a little more abstract that some of the things others have posted, but I’ll share anyway. The items I highlighted were the things I felt, at the time, that exercise would contribute to in a significant way, to support a discussion with the trainer. After 6 months working in the gym, I might highlight differently today.
