I love keto despite still waiting for the 2 benefits I CAME for

#1

Just over 4 weeks (I think) of keto here, and I’m enjoying SO many benefits:
clearer skin
leaner body
less inflamation
less joint pain
more enjoyment of food
clearer head
100% improved digestion
better energy

What I haven’t experienced yet, as I’ve written here many times, is the diminished hunger and/or fat and weight loss. I’m not overweight but do have higher body fat than I’d like (said every 50-year old woman on the planet?)
I have not lost one scale pound but somehow I look and feel much leaner - in my clothes, in my mirror and when I cross my arms or do a workout - just feel lighter to myself
I’m hanging in there because I love the myriad of benefits I’ve gained. It’s a loonnggg, slow process to get adapted, at least for me. I would imagine this woe would be difficult for a lot of people to stick with as the emphasis on scale and pounds is so strong for us humans. If I were going off that indictaor, I’d have bailed long ago. BUt there is so much more to this than that.
Trying to remind myself of that this morning.

Sounds like your body is healing itself. Many people take a long time to convert to a fat burner, which is the whole point of eating ketogenic. Once you are burning fat for fuel, the hunger will subside enough that you can do IFing and extending fasting as well.

Be sure to take measurements so you track another way besides weight. The scale can lie to you terribly.

Looking and feeling leaner is likely from less bloating, a sure sign that you are in the right track!

Women often don’t lose weight as fast as men. If your clothes are looser, that’s a good sign, regardless of what the scale says. As for the lack of hunger, etc., those things all happened a little while past the four-week mark, so just keep calm and keto on. If keto is already making you feel better, why not just keep going, regardless?

I AM FINALLY FAT ADAPTED . Ha. I was diligent, strict, patient and trusting and finally, today (I can feel it) I am fat adapted. Hunger down (not gone but not raging at all like before), workouts strong, headache gone, energy high.

Y’all said I would know when it happened and I’m telling you, I know. Today. Happy

Megan Ramos says this thing…women lose inches when the scale won’t budge, men lose pounds when the inches won’t budge. She attributes it to HGH raising while on keto, making our bones more dense, and slightly increasing muscle mass. Women’s bodies use this hormone more efficiently than men. Somebody can correct me if I worded that incorrectly but o believe I am remembering it accurately.

Just something to keep in mind the next time the scale doesn’t move. Try measuring!

Waiting on this feeling patiently… two weeks into ketosis :grimacing:

Thanks! It took me a looonggg time to adapt, longer than most and I was not overweight (maybe that’s why?), active (maybe THAT?) and considered pretty healthy but that hunger. Carbs give me the most demanding, uncooperative hunger! I couldn’t deal with that anymore. I’m still hungry like I said, but not gnaw-your-own-arm-off hunger
