I Lost That Keto Feeling

#1

I began Keto in January. Lost about 17 pounds and felt pretty good. Then I got the flu, bronchitis, sinus infection, and so forth. On top of the illnesses that didn’t want to quit, I’m a teacher and the end-of-the-school-year stressors hit. I am also a newly minted PhD and was in the midst of my dissertation final edits and defense. Needless to say, I slowly let carbs and sugary crap make its way back into my days. Some of the weight has come back as well, and with it aches and pains that had vanished. No more though. I need to get back to feeling good. If the weight comes back off, great. But more than that I want to feel good again. So I am re-examining my macros and focusing my energy on this woe and finding my way back.

Good for you! Don’t waste any time or energy beating yourself up, that’s what we’re here for (just kidding!).

Seriously, just cut out those carbs and keto on. And let us know how you’re getting on—that’s what we’re really here for! :bacon:

Wow, that’s a lot of stuff to go through all at once. When I go through stressors, I chill a little and cut myself some slack, but still stick to lchf/keto foods. I might not fast as much, or eat just a little more of something or even indulge in a few more nuts than I probably should. But sticking to keto foods is key, IMHO. That way when my stressors are gone, getting back on track is easier.

Don’t beat yourself up, get back up on the horse and keep going. Just think, if you start right now, tomorrow you’ll look back and think, hmm, I don’t have to start today, I just have to keep trekking. You can do it, because we’ve all been there and we know you can.

I agree with PaulL - don’t beat yourself up. Get right back up and try again. No one is perfect. Good luck getting back on the keto ride!

Oh my goodness your human… Guess what JAF, there is not a person on these forums that hasn’t had a bad day or been stressed out by something in their life that caused them to fall of the “keto wagon” so to speak, including myself. The most important thing that you can do when you fall of the wagon is dust yourself off and climb back on, which as you admit you have already done. So give yourself a break and as Carl and Richard say “Keto On”… Good luck!
