I appreciate all the help everyone. Just been having a rough few days. It’s no fun seeing setbacks. I’ve made a lot of progress and learned a lot about health and proper diet 2 months into this journey and I need to be thankful for that. Set backs are gonna happen.
I just can’t seem to get my macros right and my weight is coming back
Hey Derek. Sorry you are so frustrated. I think it is a pretty awkward spot being very near your ideal weight and figuring out how to stay there.
Do you fast at all? I wouldn’t suggest anything very long but I wondered. For you, a 36 hour fast would probably be a pretty long one. I wondered about whether you might have tried one meal a day or something similar.?
If what I read of Dr. Fung is right, you do not lower your BMR by fasting, at least not fasts of only a day or two or three. You do lower your BMR by restricting. To me, the message is, when you eat, eat well. When you don’t eat, don’t snack or pick at something, when you don’t eat, don’t eat. (Might be preaching to the choir. Sorry if that is the case.)
This is why it’s so important to find a solution that works for you.
I counted calories (still do, to a point). I restricted calories (and it worked fantastically). I can’t “eat fat to satiety” without gaining weight because I have a broken “stop eating” switch and don’t satiate easily on any kind of food.
I did what worked for me. There are way too many variables to say anything is absolute truth.
Except for Carbs They can go to hell.

The most I’ve regularly done was 20 hour fasts. I’d have an eating window from 6-10 pm. The problem is that I feel like then I have 4 hours to eat 2000 some calorie and that’s a LOT of food.
