I jumped in the deep end...started Keto, intermittent fasting and sauna sessions at the same time

I’ve been eating a 70/25/5 keto macro for about 5 weeks now and have had ups and downs but doing good now. Last night my blood keytones measured 1.8 mm/L and blood glucose was 81 mg/dl so i’m happy with those readings. I have also been eating in a 9 hr window for about a week now. The eating window is from 9am to 6pm. I workout at 8pm for 1 hr then hit my far-infrared sauna for 30-40 minutes after then shower and bed.

I’m worried about my electrolyte levels, notably potassium. I always salt my food with sea salt and purchased some nu-salt (566 mg potassium/serving). Last night after my sauna i began to feel weak. I decided to break my fast and had some bbq pork and lilly’s dark chocolate chips. When i woke up my legs felt heavy and have continued to feel tired most of the morning so far.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I could use some advice on why i feel crappy all the sudden.

Thanks

Sounds like you might be taking on more than your body can handle. It takes a while to be fat adapted with keto diet - so maybe pull back a bit and focus on eating keto eating; the intermittent fasting typically comes naturally on its own; workout+shower+sauna may have depleted a lot of electrolytes/lower BP. Also curious to know exactly how much you are eating - and are you eating to satiety when you do eat?

I am M 5’9" 155 lbs. down from 165 lbs. before keto. I am currently taking in 1500 - 2000 calories/day. Some days i have felt great with tons of energy but lately i have felt beat down.

I would up the supplements, slow down a bit (no sauna, etc), and then reevaluate by tomorrow or day after. If you are still weakish, maybe something else is going on?

I agree on breaking from the sauna but what supplements would you recommend?

Sounds like you have a good handle on salts and potassium. So keep using those and see whether that will clear up your feelings of weakness in the next 48 hours. If it does then you have likely pinpointed the cause and you adjust accordingly. Saunas can suck the life out of you!
