I GAINED weight :(

#21

Ok, I’ll try. I had a bit of a panic when I saw the numbers go up (and my jeans don’t even do up anymore). I’ll just stick with it, cut out the lemon, and have faith. Thanks for reassuring me.

#22

My ex-husband already has a scale. joke

#23

I know, right? sigh . Oh well, no more lemon juice.

#24

Thanks for this. Begone, lemon.

#25

That makes sense. Discouraged, not frustrated. But I’m not quitting, just a bit shocked.

I think I’m already eating eggs, meat, and fat. I might have a handful of spinach every so often.

I don’t think of myself as not having much to lose. 25-30lbs feels pretty significant to me, but I guess if you compare it to 60lbs+, it’s not a lot.

Ok, think long-term. Think long-term. Think long-term.

And take measurements. I’ll start doing that.

Give those mitochondria some time to adapt!

How are your hunger levels? Are you eating to satiety or “forcing” the fat to hit macros/ratios? When I see liquid fat being consumed via bacon drippings, olive oil, etc., I am curious as to the answer to that question. Others may disagree, but I personally never eat when I’m not hungry, regardless of what my calories or macros are for that day.

#28

I was famished for the first few days. Now I reach a point where I just can’t eat any more. I feel genuinely full and it lasts for hours. However, I give myself a cutoff point early-afternoon where I am done eating and even if I get hungry in the evening, I wait until breakfast to eat again.

I would add that a person needs to be careful about the nutritional values found on sites that allows user input such as MFP. It is best to look up the specific foods on a site like USDA nutrition. It is most accurate in my opinion.

Scales LIE! Take measurements. I have only lost about six pounds since I started at the end of June, but down two honest inches off butt and waist, and one inch off the bust. If you want to go crazy, do a mid thigh and biceps measurement and maybe a neck measurement as well. Keep a journal.

This is likely the problem then. You want about .8 grams of protein per pound of lean muscle mass and your carbs as low as possible. That is all that is required, the rest is just to fill you up. Fat is more filling so eating fattier meats and cheeses both fills you up and meets your protein requirements. But fat is not a goal, you only add more in if you are having trouble getting full, you want to use fat from your body not from your mouth so if hunger isn’t an issue cut back all of the added fat.

Curious are you drinking those amounts of bacon fat and cocoa butter???

Please check out this blog, very helpful for me when I was trying to hit a fat macro in the beginning.

I hit my moderate protein, and low carb targets, then eat to satiety. Because I found that was what works for me.
Your body isn’t in fat burning adaption state yet at one week. As others have mentioned, KCKO. The weight will come off.

I did read you’re going through some stuff which is rough to read, but I commented based on word choices and how you structured your sentences.

If it’s not true you weren’t, then I’m sorry.

I think it’s great you came here for support, and everyone here is genuinely trying to help. Which is “incredibly” supportive

Gained the first week? Odd but not unheard of. Weight loss doesn’t follow a straight line and you might just be an outlier on the spectrum.

I didn’t have a scale in my first 3 months of keto but I took my measurements and noticed the fit of my clothes…no change. Then the miracle happened. In the meantime I experienced some improvements to my well being but I was panting for the pounds to melt off. They came off but so very slowly. I may be an outlier, too (ooo, lucky, lucky). I’m about 15 pounds from my desired weight and the scale is dropping at the rate of a pound a month, and only with a bit of fasting.

I wanted to be one of the gals who said they started this way of eating on January 1st, has dropped 60 pounds, has the energy of a four year old, 3 diseases have disappeared, and her skin and nails look like a super model’s. I didn’t get any if that. But I’m down 25 pounds and have lost my so-called allergy.

Don’t let anyone tell you this is going to be a snap. I suppose for some few it is but I think most of us struggle in one way or another. Patience will reward you.

Thanks. I am surprised that my choice of words came across as intense. Yeah, I went through a pretty major life event and a trauma over the last while and I’m still healing. I’m amazed that came through in my writing. That or you’re very perceptive.

#36

Ok, patience. I’ll do my best. And I’m going to buy a measuring tape to measure inches instead of pounds.

I feel sad reading that you’ve struggled through it. But, 15lbs from your desired weight is awesome!! Congrats!

#37

Haha! Bacon fat solidifies when it cools. I spoon it out. And I make raw chocolate with cacao butter. It’s quite solid and not drinkable. I include a bit of cocoa powder with only 1 or 2 carbs per serving.

Thanks for the blog! I was afraid to eat too much protein. I just recalculated and I can eat more than I was, so I’ll try that.

#38

Ok, I wasn’t using this approach. I don’t eat cheese, though. I will eat more meat/eggs and only add fat if I’m hungry. I find this brings my calories to fewer than 1300/day. Hey, if I can get away with that few, I’m cool.

Comatose sleeps are back. My first few days on keto, I felt nearly comatose. The kind of tired I feel when my blood sugar is low.

I also felt dizzy and in an attempt to boost my electrolytes, I started drinking lemon water with mag citrate. And my energy came back.

Now I’ve cut out the lemon water and I feel comatose again. I think my body was sucking carbs out of those tbsps of lemon juice.

So… keto flu, ready or not, here I come. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I have read all though this - so sorry for hard times.

What stand out to me is no mention of extra salt - the pink kind. That will certainly help with keto flu and feeling yukky. I have had to up mine more that I ever thought possible. But it is working well.

In the meantime, have another piece of :bacon:!
