I don't know what to do

(Layla) #1

Hello. I am starting keto diet for the first time. I am extremely worried that i’ll never reach my weight goal. For the past two days, I’ve been eating salad, fruits, and protein. I really need help and motivation.

Fruit is not keto. You need to stay under 20g of carbs a day and a piece of fruit will be at or above that limit.

Eating a moderate about of protein and the rest of your calories should come from fat until you are full.

Just take it one day at a time. Keto is a lifestyle not a diet

Layla, yes, it can be really overwhelming at first. Spend some time on this board. Read, read, read. Ask questions. There are some wonderful, very patient people here

Install a macronutrient tracking program. I use My Fitness Pal. Take some time to learn how to use it. There’s others too, but choose one now and learn how to use it. You also need to figure out what your macros should be. And by that I mean carbs, protein and fat.

Maybe someone else could point you to how to do that. I forget now what I used. That was the hardest for me. But once you have it figured out My Fitness Pal will track it for you.

This is not easy in the beginning. You do need to get those basics down. But once those are in place it does get easier.

And try not to think about losing weight. Think about getting healthy and the weight will come off…guaranteed.

And here’s the best part…it will stay off because this is how you will want to eat the rest of your life.

And actually the best part is any health issues you have will start to clear up…some sooner than you might even expect.

There are some side -effects but just put into a search engine for example: keto so tired. Or in the search option on this board and you will find others with some answers.

You can do this. It’s a way of eating, not a diet. Say that over and over

Start with learning the basics of what keto actually is and it’ll help you get off to the best start.

Diet Doctor also has a 2-week low carb challenge that gives you menus, recipes, and even a shopping list. It’s a good way to break into it.
