I am coming back home! What's going on?

Greetings! Today, I was reminiscing about 1st coming to the keto WOE when leaving the US based MLM companies called Take Shape For Life(now Optavia).to get sucked into another MLM supplement company called, Plexus. Then I woke up & found The 2 Keto Dudes, Dr. Fung & then lost 163 pounds. Realizing…hey…what has happened to the gang? Who wants to clue me in on all the good stuff. Got rid of “Fakebook” YEARS AGO…I only know & still follow Kim Howerton but…spill the tea…fill me in on all the good stuff! Thanx!

163 pounds? Wow.

Richard went back to school, and Carl just recently resurfaced and said he’s going to try to be more of a regular here again.

Welcome back! and congrats on the huge loss!

Nice to “meet” you! I am a relative newbie compared to many on here, yourself included. 4 years and 80 pounds, and at my happy place for the last year. Keto was/is a life saver.

My basic motto (for me) is to keep it simple, trust the process, and carry on.

Hey Geri,

Well - “last post was Aug '17” - so now that has been a while…

I think the good stuff is that eating low-carb really does work and make an enormous difference for a whole lot of people. That life is good and enjoyable, or can become more enjoyable for us. That the sun and the moon still shine…

The composition of the group has shifted over time. I still miss people who were active when I joined in 2017, so it’s good to see you back. I hope you’ll continue to hang around.

The big news is that Dave Feldman has been able to amass enough funding for an RTC of lean-mass hyper-responders, LDL levels, and cardiovascular risk, and the early data look promising.

COVID was rough on a lot of people. We had a COVID forum for a while, but threads kept veering off of keto and into politics, with some big fights. After the main epidemic was over we jettisoned that forum, because it was so toxic. We learned that as long as we stick to discussing keto, we can disagree politely, but discussing politics seems always to lead to nasty fights. But it was interesting to see research come out that high blood glucose appeared to correlate with worse COVID outcomes.

The rest has become a blur. We started a “Show me the Garbage” sub-category of “Show me the Science,” which has been entertaining. You might want to check it out. Some interesting discussions in the Health forum of the benefits of keto/carnivore eating on mental health. Chris Palmer and Georgia Ede are talking a lot about the metabolic causes of neurological disorders, from epilepsy to mental health to motor-neuron diseases, and some fascinating data have come out about the connexion between such disorders and mitochondrial health (or the lack of it) in the brain. Thomas Seyfried has been making a big deal about cancer as a metabolic disease, as well, and people are putting his ideas to the test, with startling results, even with aggressive, difficult-to-treat cancers such as glioblastoma.

So stick around, please, and join the discussions!

I’ve been gone a pretty long time too! Gained weight, back up to 160, and then went back on keto last summer. Am now at 122 pounds and determined to stay there! Friends have said, “Now you have to start adding back carbs” and just cant understand why I have no intention of doing that! Keto is it for me. It’s what works, and I’ve become closer to carnivore, pretty must jettisoning vegetables and any fruits besides berries. Still make fat bombs but don’t eat them like it’s my last day on earth anymore. I’m glad to see Paul here still, and a few others. Welcome back to you and I hope we can both become regulars here again!
