Hungry but nothing sounds good

(Lauren Malhoit) #1

Hi all,
Does anyone else feel hungry, but nothing sounds good. I don’t mean that keto foods don’t sound good, I mean nothing sounds good. I’ve been keto (somewhat on and off recently) for over 2 years. I do wonder if my on and off has kind of messed up my ability to know what I want to eat…maybe that’s ridiculous, though.

I have thought that maybe I’m just dehydrated, but I’ve tried drinking water and even making an electrolyte keto drink, but it doesn’t seem to help.

Thoughts? Anyone else?

Thanks,
Lauren

I’ve been having a couple of days like that. I’m hungry but can’t decide what I want. I’m drinking a lot of water as well. I’m baking some cheese right now. Part of my problem might be laziness!!

Food funk - it’ll pass :slightly_smiling_face:

Sounds like a good time to fast… that is if you still have good energy and everything else feels fine. I have one policy when I can’t decide what to eat: When in doubt, bust out a ribeye.

I do that with my chicken sausages. I’d do it with steak, but I’m addicted to sous vide steak, which isn’t a spur of the moment thing

I’ve seen you mention chicken sausages several times. I need to try some. I’ve seen them at Target and will pick some up next time I’m there (if they don’t have a bunch of nitrates).

I get mine from a butcher at the markets. They’re 60 percent chicken trimmings, 40 percent chicken fat. No fillers at all. They are kinda awesome fat bombs, though

I’m going to try sous viding them soon.

Yes, I often experience this! In fact I’ve started making the exact same salad with tuna mayo, hard boiled rgg, spinach and sundried tomato every day for my work lunch, just so I don’t have to think about food.

If I feel that way when it comes to an evening meal, I normally just make myself bacon and eggs :bacon: :fried_egg: because those are two things I always have in the fridge.

Recently I’ve been thinking the bigger picture of this issue is (that after nearly 4 months of keto), I am starting to view food as fuel that my body needs, as opposed to tastes or cravings that my tongue/brain wants.

Good view.

Also, this is a real word.

Verb sous-viding present participle of sous-vide

If I’m in that funk pork rinds, chicken or beef broth, string cheese, olives and cream cheese, hwc hot chocolate water (? made up name), and tea with hwc are snacks I can get into that will usually revive my appetite.

There’s a reason behind everything - sore throat and fever just hit. I haven’t lost interest in food yet - just mildly ill. I’m kinda relieved, I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t hungry.

Interesting! Last time I got a bit of a lurgy I was hungrier for three days or so before it hit - drove me bonkers too so I was kind of glad to figure it out even if I was ill.

I wonder if it’s different lurgy types or just different people that makes the difference

Don’t know, but pre-keto, usually when I got a cold I would eat tons of junk. No junk to eat now, so maybe that’s it. Cheeseburger for dinner is sounding better and better, though. I’m just not in the mood for broccoli with the cheeseburger…:rofl:

I have nothing to back this up but I just have a feeling that broccoli would totally worsen your situation right now :woman_health_worker:

Well, great minds think alike - I am going to totally listen to my body.

Yeah. Haven’t been sick in sometime but parenting stress has been high the last couple of weeks. I go to eating too many keto snacks and some days a couple of glasses of dry red wine.

Keto snacks: macadamia nits, plain pork rinds, a bit of left over rib eye, a tablespoon of amish butter, or a piece of cheese. I’ve been laying off the HWC since I realsize the little cup I have been using is 4 oz and not 2 oz.
Brain fart.
