Hungry All The Time?

I’m 2.5 weeks in to keto and was 80/20 paleo w/dairy before and did track macros for about a year. 46 YO Female, 5’5", 128, body fat somewhere around 18%. I’m doing keto to support my husband; I like to cook and enjoy making meals we can all enjoy and so I am happy to join him in this eating plan. I am primarily focused on maintaining weight. I have lost about 1# of scale weight since starting keto and clothes fit the same.

My reason for this post is the past few days I have been SO hungry from around noon - 7 pm. I am eating about 2100 cals day and have been pretty solid with 5% carbs, 15-20% protein, 75-80% fat. I have been doing butter coffee for breakfast and eating first meal around 11:00. But rather than feeling full, eating this first meal seems to spike my appetite for the next few hours.

I suppose I could just eat some more (fat) until I feel full, or should I try something different? Perhaps I should not be counting calories? I mentally worry about ‘going over’ calories for the day because of the lifelong messages about calories, but from all that I hear on the 2KD podcast, it sounds like my metabolism can handle what comes its way.

Thoughts and ideas? Thanks in advance.

I think you answered your own question - that is what I was going to recommend.

Like you figured. Forget calories. Eat till you are satisfied.

Maybe wait until you are hungry to eat the first meal. I find that some days I’m just hungry until 2 or 3pm. If there isn’t a specific reason to eat at 11am, maybe skip it. Wait until you are actually hungry, before you eat!

exactly…now you can let that mental trap go away :grinning:

This has been my hardest hurdle to overcome–fearing those few extra calories would put me back on the road to weight gain. So far it hasn’t happened! Been lchf mostly since 2013. KCKO!
