Hunger variation

So why does our hunger go up and down so much? Last few days I have been ravenous, yet today, nothing, just no hunger.

I am guessing it is because I have been sick this week, and my body just needed rations to do the healing thing. I am feeling better today, and this is it saying, all good, no need for anything more: you’ve been stuffing your face, time to redress the balance.

Am I making this up, or does this sound sensible?

Sounds eminently sensible… we have just forgotten how to listen when we are surrounded by crap food all the time.

I was at Victoria Station in London yesterday and really was stunned by the amount of food outlets there and saddened by the amounts of crap they were selling. As someone currently eating carnivore the only option I could see was MaccyD’s with no bun. Luckily I just fasted anyway until we got home.

Your hunger just jumped over to me.

And of course I’m on the way to an out of town baseball tournament for my son.

Fingers crossed I packed enough Keto friendly food to make it through the day. Concession stands don’t tend to have the best options.

I’d like to think that hunger, unless it’s carby-cravings, is my body telling me what to do. I don’t always know why it begs me to eat or couldn’t care less, but the longer I work with keto, the more I’m willing to say instinct trumps science, at least as far as general nutritional ketosis goes.

Lots of factors will affect your hunger levels, obviously physical activity (type, duration, intensity, frequency), sleep, stress, decrease in body fat, foods eaten at your last meal, hydration status…so it’s hard to nail down one factor that affects it!

Is that fish and chips stand under the arches still the best in town?

(bulkbiker) #7

No idea sorry… I but I doubt it’s still there… probably replaced by one of the many shit food chains that are there now…

No worries. This is a memory from (OMG! Am I that old?) years ago. :grinning:

I never eat just because I’m feeling hunger. I’m always hungry when I eat. If we had to eat when feeling hunger how could we do time restricted eating or fasting? I used to eat about 35 times a week, 3 meals plus a couple of snacks x 7 days. Now I eat 12 times a week, lunch and dinner Monday through Friday, no food on Saturday, then a relaxed breakfast, a mid day dinner and may be a whipped cream dessert on Sundays. I’m usually feeling hunger for a couple hours in the morning on week days and may be some sporatic hunger pangs on Saturday. My body gets plenty of nutrients. The hunger signals are just noise.
