How to use this new glucometer?

I got sucked in to buying a True Metrix glucometer because it was so cheap at the drug store. Of course, the glucose strips and control solution weren’t nearly as cheap!

I’m maybe a little bit IR but otherwise thankfully no issues relating to diabetes. I just want to check the impact certain things have on my BG: sweeteners in particular, but also things like almond flour and cream cheese.

The manual is thick and I know it’s supposed to be simple but I have no idea how to start. I guess I need to calibrate it using control solution (I got 1 and 2) and then I’ll take my fasting BG, followed by consuming what I’m gonna test (say, stevia) and then test my BG an hour later.

The thing is, I don’t even know how to use the lancets. Anyone have an easy-peasy guide or link to something on the web for how to use this thing? Something visual maybe?

The lancet thingy should have some type of twist off cap where you can load a new poker. You should be able to dial how deep you want it to penetrate, like 1- 5 or 6. I have mine at 4. When you test for foods, etc., take your reading before you eat and then 30mins after and then every 1hr after until you get back to your before reading. How long that takes determines if your are spiking insulin or not. Hope that made sense.

I just take the protective plastic cover off the sharp end and start jabbing…Blood will eventually show up.
